Was wondering if anyone had tried a set or know anything about the rods Summit RE sold about 5 to 7 years ago. They are no longer selling them. In particular the BBC Pro Line rods. SES-3-90-05B385 I can no longer get them and would like to find out who really made them. They where made in the USA, 4340AQ CM steel forged but 100% machined. Looked just like an Oliver rod but used a ARP SS stud instead of a bolt. I'm up to about 500 runs on these and would like to get some new ones. My friend thinks that Oliver may have made them??? Need a Summit RE mole. :D

Seems like I remember them being made by Power Detroit (which burned down).

The Proline cranks at least for the BBC back a few years ago are/where for sure COLA. I bought a bunch of them. Bought 2 new perfect for $1000 and about 6 blems for $600/. Blems where ones Summit put aside because nicks and minor stuff.
Just spent that last 2 hrs looking on the web for Power Detroit information. Looking for pictures of there rods. Started wondering about the fastener style used on these rods. What is better a bolt with a head or a stud... for rod bolts? ARP does not even list a stud for rods. I saw some Howard's rods on the CN site that looked a great deal like these Summit rods.
Thanks for the input ... graemlins/beers.gif

John is correct. Power Detroit burnt down a few years back. Competition Products was the major seller of there stuff. You could contact them to get the real scoop.
I believe the demise of Power Detroit is the primary reason that Competition Products purchased Howards Racing Components.
