: '41 Ford 2dr Coupe Worth $$??
72soft-top Dec 11th, 07, 11:17 PM OK. I know it's not a Chevy, but my uncle has asked me if I'm interested in purchasing his old Ford. He has also asked me to research it's value??
It's all original, Flat head V8. Currently not running, garage kept forever. Trunk hatch lever has been removed and lead filled. Other than that, it's all completely original and in good shape. He thinks the engine has frozen since it sat so long?? The heads are removed.
I don't think it's been on the road in 20 years. Need help for it's value estimate??
Thanks
Brian
72soft-top Dec 12th, 07, 6:53 PM Come on! I know it's not a Muscle car, but it's still cool!!!
rak1 Dec 12th, 07, 7:55 PM Old Ford trucks have a good following and like 72soft-top said are cool. We kind of need pictures for a good guess; how much rust is there?
Manx96 Dec 12th, 07, 9:43 PM Pictures would help greatly.

72soft-top Dec 12th, 07, 9:46 PM Haven't pulled in out of the proverbial barn yet.
But I know it's not a rust bucket at all.
It just doesn't run. Seized engine from sitting.
He's had it for 30+ years.
team5150 Dec 12th, 07, 11:01 PM I have a 39 Ford chopped top coupe with a chevey engine (see sig).
If it is a real steel coupe with a flathead it might be worth some good money.
Go to these sites and it will give you a good idea of what the cars are going for out there.

I don't think this is a truck, but it does sound like a car that could possibly fetch a decent price with the right buyer. You should run an ad in Hemming's Motor News for starters.

Your right davis95; would be cool either way. The catch is I don't think most people who are family want you to buy from them and then quickly sell to make a profit. Check with the family member before and ask if it would be ok to sell it for them and give them the money. That way you don't have to come up with any extra cash to buy it, and they might need the money more then you or they wouldn't be selling. You could always ask if it would be ok to keep some of the money for your time; they might even give you more for helping them sell the car for them. It bothers me when I hear of a father giving his son a car or whatever that was his pride and joy, and the son sells it to by a Honda or go party.:(
72soft-top Dec 13th, 07, 12:36 PM First, it's not a truck.
Guys, I don't want to flip this car. I would be buying it for myself.
My middle daughter loves Fords (Don't ask!!) and I would love to restore it and pass it along to her someday.
Sorry for the confusion, but I simply want to know what I should offer my uncle to purchase the car. Various internet searches show projects from $2500 to $60k super rods. Just want to get an idea from you guys???
Thanks Brian
rak1 Dec 13th, 07, 1:07 PM Without seeing a picture of the car, engine condition is in question, rest of the drive train unknown, and who knows the condition of the suspension, brakes, trans, clutch, and electrics. Nice thing is it prewar and has a nice body style with little rust. $3000 to $3500 would be a fair price for a project in good rebuild-able condition. A lot of unknowns are what would concern me. The worst that could happen is he would say no, and maybe counter offer so you can get a starting place. Start at 3k sounds good to me, but I don't think I would give more the 4k+ unless I really wanted it. Sound like a fun project!! Good luck in your quest.
72soft-top Dec 13th, 07, 1:56 PM Thanks Robert.
That's what I was looking for.

rak1 Dec 17th, 07, 1:00 PM So, do you have a new '41 in your garage? Just wondering....
72soft-top Dec 18th, 07, 11:18 AM Still working on it. I'll post pics if I get it.
Jimmy P Dec 18th, 07, 11:46 AM 41's are worth about 1/4 of what 40's are worth. I passed up a cherry 41 Ford coupe with a hot-rodded flathead and Chevy sychro's 3 speed for 13K a few years ago. It's for sale now with an asking price of 15.
I'd say if the body and interior are in good restorable condition, that 3000-3500 estimate is right on.
72soft-top Dec 18th, 07, 6:12 PM The car has been in his garage since the 60's. It is my uncle's baby and he didn't even drive it for fear that someone may hit it.
I'll be looking at it this weekend.
rak1 Dec 28th, 07, 4:23 PM Did you buy it? Just wondering....
NOTHINBUT69s Dec 28th, 07, 5:52 PM Back 9 years ago I bought a 41 ford 2dr. sedan, There not a high dollar car but makes a good street rod. I bought mine for 2 reasons one to flip and the other was my ex wife said I couldnt buy it.
This is want the Old Car price guide quotes it at, Not knowing if its a 3p or 5p or a deluxe,i'll shoot the standard at you.
1 24,000.00
2 16,800.00
3 10,800.00
4 4,800.00
5 2,900.00
6 950.00
Remember these are ball park prices in the guide and IMO there is no such thing as a #1 condition unless its a trailer queen.
I take it you didn't get it?
