I've committed myself to installing a 1/2" fuel line from the tank to the pump (including modifying the sending unit with a 1/2" feed pipe). I want to run stock looking pump to carb lines but of course the largest stock style pump to carb line is 3/8". Am I defeating the purpose of a 1/2" inch fuel line if I put a 3/8" line after the pump? I think the Carter 172gph pump comes with an AN 8 inlet and an AN 6 outlet so a 1/2" in and 3/8" out should be no different, right?

Rich,
I'm running 1/2" right now with a Carter 172 pump. I believe it comes with -10AN inlet and -8AN outlet. I picked up a -8AN fitting to replace the -10AN. I am running 1/2" hardline from the tank to pump (with a little braided) and 1/2" hardline from the pump to carb.
I wonder if you contacted Inline or someone like that if they would bend you up some stock type stuff in 1/2"? I just bent my own.
Good luck!

Rich I run the same fuel pump and AN 10 line tank to pump.......pump to carb is AN 8 no need to go larger than AN 8 pump to carb as you will just reduce down to 3/8 at carb. FWIW

AN 8 fittings are what fit 1/2" line so perhaps I'll simply run AN 8 fittings all the way to the pump and then AN 8 out of the pump too. So much for stock style lines from the pump to the carb.
