Ok here is the story, I have been chasing this guy and playing phone tag . He bought this 70 SS chevelle convertible brand new. The car has all orginal equipment or so his brother tells me. Small block car auto. I do not have pics and have not seen the car up close yet. It is sitting in a open air pole barn. The car is gold in color. I know it has been sitting for 25 years.
I have a 66 chevelle and I know that the 138 in the vin means it is a ss.
Are the 70 models the same? I do not know much about 1970 chevelles and need a crash course on what to check for. I am going to try and see the car and make him a offer when he comes in for Christmas. The car still sits and his parents house. Thanks for your time.

No such thing as a small Block 70 SS Chevelle.

The 138 VIn Signifigance ended with the 1968 Model year.

An SS is proven in 1970 with original paperwork, POP, or numbers matching correct suffix'ed 396 or 454 engine block.

It sounds like you have a small block malibu Convertible to look at.

Don't immediately discredit that however as top notch Clone vert's can sell upwards of $60K if done correctly.

70 Verts are very desirable because of that fact.
