I think I have seen that car in west seattle before. I sure now what you mean about finding a good deal on a project and not having the cash around. Happens to me atleast once a week.

Hmmmm, some inheritance money is coming.....
Looks better than that dk gray one from down by Rochester that was for sale for months....
Alas, probably safer for me to fix the several faults on the Elky and upgrade the Vette rather than start something new.....

Maybe I haven't looked around enough ????? Am I the only one who thinks that $4500 is a little spendy or just fair at best for a car the needs quarters, trunk, brakes, probably window ledges and complete restore? Please don't jump on me and crucify me on that but that seems fair at best to me.
I picked up the 70 Chevelle that's in my Photo Bucket for $700. I fixed a little rust around the package tray, replaced the tired smallblock, picked up a Cowl hood for $100 and had some color squirted on her. Maybe I need to get out a little more. :(

Roger,

I'll take all the $700 1970 Chevelles that you have.
The one in Seattle, a runner, with some go-fast stuff and 4-speed $4500
The one in Oly, $4000, needs some work to run, mostly stock...
I've not seen too many WHOLE cars for that or less.
Occasionally there is a torn apart car for $2500 you'd need a car hauler and 2-3 loads for the parts......
Those two cars, lookin' back at the pics of the Oly car I got from the seller...thinking cheaper to get the OLY car going as most of the major body work has been done....and has a cowl hood.....
I'm afraid the ads saying "1970 Chevelle $2000, needs work" are long over.
Clones with SBC and 10-bolt are going for $15k

Would have to see how bad the cancer is of course. However, if he is asking 4500 then you start with a 3500 offer. Or less depending on what you find. =)

That's about what I was thinking about for dollar value. $3500. I know I got lucky on my Chevelle but it's so expensive now to get a trunk and quarters put in. Like you said... the amount of cancer would be the key. I'm thinking it's got a fair share judgeing by the pic's but you never know.
I'm glad the values are going up so fast. That's just money in the bank for us:hurray:.....

It's not that bad to replace the 1/4's, buy the car, and bring it too Me. I'll hook You up.

For a fee , of course.;)

I wish there was a rant & rave section here.i hate to even look at craigslist or ebay,it makes me want to puke when I see the prices that people want for some garbage they think is worth 10 times what its really worth.Im not saying the two cars in question arent worth the money, but I get bothered when some schmuck wants $15,000 for 66 4dr chevelle thats rusted out, 3 different colors, but does have a recovered front seat.:angry:AAAAAAAAAAAAAA.thanks for letting me get this off my chest,i feel much better:D

Im not a mental case, but i play one on tv!

I've been very pleased with the descriptions and actual product status for parts on Craigslist. I've made a few good contacts too. I guess it is because the people are all pretty local. Short trip and you can see the stuff. eBAy...forget it!
Barrett-Jackson has made the nice cars un-affordable and brought the junk car values sky high. Only freeking Berg gets deals on cars these days....
OK, that $300 project 68 Nova was not bad....in my opinion, diamond in the rough. Just caused the wife to have a seizure thinking lump of dung....

I don't think I have hit the 5,000 total mark yet in the '70, incuding the purchase price of course. Its close though. The old saying "just got to be in the right place at the right time" still applies I think.

i agree with you kyle, there are good deals to be had.The people who have and give the good deals most of the time, want what they have to not go to waste. The people who want insane amounts of money are greedy and could careless about whos money they take.Im always willing to help when i can,i dont care if i come out ahead. From what i can tell buy the guys in the nw section everyone here cares about each other and has each others back.I think thats awsome and Im proud to associate with you guys. Thanks for your time,Ihope that i didnt upset anyone by my last post.

Craig,
You need to tell me about this 12-sec 350-powered Elky with 2.73s sometime.....
I guess a lot of this is a good launch with the 8-inch converter
Looking for better performance, small budget, for 2008. Problem is this is my daily driver so no 8-inch converter....

For good deals, you just have to expand your horizons a bit, and keep the Rosey Colored Glasses on....

Wish i had some extra cash- if i did this ugly 67 442 would be my next project....
http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/car/506672638.html

Perfect base to build a drag car on.

$2200 for 2 mostly complete cars! what a deal!
I'd fix up the 6 banger a bit to resell, and that would make the ugly red one practically free.
