: Holley Stealth Ram (long, sorry!)

I've got some questions regarding Holley's Stealth Ram sbc setup. I've been examining options for EFI and this looks like a very interesting system.

I'm basically building and engine from scratch, but I do have some things purchased already - some ZZ4 stuff (short block, pan, pump, timing chain, roller lifter kit). I also have an Edelbrock HR cam (.539/.548 Lift, 234/238 Duration @ .050") as my original intention was to build and E-Tec crate engine clone.

My intended usage of this engine is a good street/strip combo. I haven't purchased gears or converter so this is open. Since I'm displacement-limited, I figure I need to be making peak torque around 4400-4800 rpm to get my desired hp of around 450 (my target is mid-to-low 12s). It will be going in a '64 Malibu SS. Also, I've got a TH350 I'll be rebuilding.

1) Holley's description of the Stealth Ram states idle to 6000 rpm powerband. I see a Holley engineer frequents this site - can this system rev to 6500 or so? As I said above, with peak torque coming it at 4400-4800, peak power will happen right about at 6000-6300. I'm not completely against reselling the cam and starting over, but if I can use it I'd prefer to do so.

2) Are there other options for EFI I should be looking at? My main reasons for looking at the Holley kit is it's price and computer tuning capabilities. I need to stay at or near $2300 for everything. I don't like the Edelbrock system because it doesn't appear that I can tune it with a laptop.

3) At some point in the future, some type of external power adder may be incorporated (like a centrifugal supercharger or dry nitrous kit). The ability of the system to adapt to this is also required.

Thanks in advance for the help -

Oh, I almost forget - I haven't decided heads yet either, so recommendations of these are welcome as well.

1) RPM for your HP range, no problem at all. I really despise the RPM range numbers that are put into catalogs, they are there for general judegements for people that aren't too familar with intakes.

2)Best system in the price range. YOu can also buy a kit that comes with a wideband O2, highly recommended.

3)You can run a 1, 2, or 3 bar map sensor and up to 8 high impedence injectors which limits you to a 60 lb/hr injectors and about 750-800 HP supercharged.

Heads? Same story as any engine, AFR, Trick Flow, Canfield, and Holley has a decent 20 degree head as well.

Holley is coming out with a vortec port Stealth Ram at some point. Doug F can give more info on that. I just bring that up so you know your cylinder head options are not limited to heads with conventional style ports.

Thanks guys!

FYI I'm leaning towards TFS 23° heads.

Yes, a Vortec version should be on the shelf 3/1. Initial dyno testing with stock Vortec heads was very promising.
