Great flick. Just finished watching it through from start to finish for the first time.

I wonder if we can name all the sweet rides?

I'll start with the obvious: Wooderson's 70 Chevelle SS.

I agree. I wonder if that Chevelle is around?? Its gotta be unless Hollywood wrecked it. I'd sure like to own a "movie star" Chevelle!

i've always liked the stepside Chevy truck and the Duster.
but i never could figure out why a 2 or 3 year old Duster was so beat up like that..

They filmed that movie in Austin, TX while I was living there. Almost all the cars were real local rides either borrowed or bought for the movie. The GTO and '70 Chevelle were both up for sale a little later (I actually looked at the goat for a friend). It was what you would call a 20-footer.

One of my all time favorite flicks! Even though it is technically the generation before me, still love it, and I can name off all of my buddies and which character they would have been in the movie.

There was even a winged mopar at the drive-in. Did you notice the 80s style IROC wheels on the camaro/firebird? Thats the only automotive mistake I saw.

I totally saw the 80's style IROC wheels on that camaro. I guess they can't get everything right. I like the 71 or 72 Chevelle that was in the parking lot at the school, you never saw it driven, and only saw the rear, so I couldn't make out if it was a 71 or 72 though. Wooderson's 70 LS5 was sweet. I wonder if it was a real SS, sure sounded good.

The vinyl top on the GTO looked odd. Was that stock? Wasn't that a judge?

I loved all the cars, but I'm sorry, it has to be one of the worst written/acted movies I've ever seen!

Huh? The writing is one of my favorite parts!! To me it seemed more realistic than most movies, it doesn't sound scripted using words and sentances that people wouldn't use in real life.

I love that movie!! Rumor of a 20th anniversary gathering in Austin coming up. I smell a vacation for me. For the 10th anniversary they set up a huge screen and played the movie out in a field, and Matthew McCaughnhey showed up along with numerous other huge stars from the movie.

it was a good movie, but i liked "the Stoned Age" better.
cruising around in the Blue Torpedo, sipping the Schnapster, and being followed by a giant eyeball..

I also graduated in 78 and when I first saw the movie, I thought it was based on the people and the neighborhood that I grew up in. Almost exact, except we didnt paddle the freshmen, we beat em up! LOL. Although it did seem like a low budget movie, I still purchased the DVD!

By the way, with all the knowledegable people on this site, somebody has to know where Wooderson's 70 Chevelle is now!

I think a 20th anniversary meeting will probably be a ways off. The movie was made in 93

The 70 SS had a 454-390 decal, if I remember correctly.:noway:

There were a lot of people that became stars after that movie.

I'm not knocking this film, it's one of my all time favorites. We watched this movie on my friends HD big screen. It's amazing how much you notice in the background with that.

........Like when the seniors were chasing the freshmen in the black Chevy pick-up, they passed right by a 80-something S10 Blazer. The scene with the wrong wheels on the firebird, in the parkinglot behind that one, you'll see a Ford Taurus, another S-10 and other new vehicles.

Still, I love the movie and I watch it often.:hurray::beers:

I don't know, but you would think, even in 93, a 70 SS was a very desirable car. No way in the world that 70 is gone. Probably in some private collection somewhere. Imagine what that would command on eBay. Owning the 70 SS454 that Wooderson drove. Easily would bring 100k on eBay. I think i'm gonna watch that movie now, wanna see if I can pick up on any other mistakes
