I was going through my parts and realilize I am missing the radiator. It is a 4core . LS6 410 car , build sheet says PA. What should I be looking for,are there tank numbers? I like to have my shop recore for me. Does anyone have one for sale? Thanks Gary

For 1970,the standard Radiator for those three applications was the 3 row radiator, as well as the L-78 engined Chevelle.Transmission type did not dictate it.

When Air Conditioning was ordered on the L-34, or a 4:10 Rearend was equipped on the LS-5, LS-6, then they would receive the 4 row HD radiator automatically. But when the L-78 came equipped with a 4:10 rearend, it still was built with the Standard 3 row radiator.

1970 Chevelle STANDARD radiator suffix tag codes:
*L-34 Manual- (BE)
*L-34 TH400- (BK)
*L-78 Manual- (BO)
*L-78 TH400- (BJ)
*LS-5 & LS-6 Manual- (BQ)
*LS-5 & LS-6 TH400- (BR)

1970 Chevelle A/C & HEAVY DUTY Radiator Suffix Codes:
*L-34, L-78 & LS-5, LS-6 Manual- (PA)
*L-34, L-78 & LS-5, LS-6 TH400- (PD).
My 04-16 assembled Atlanta LS6 w/4-speed & 4.10 has a "PA" radiator.
BTW - what do all those other stamped codes on the radiator tag mean? PA, IF, XJ, 74
I will guess you car is a 4 core rad-and your car is a 4 speed and if an LS5 it has air if no air it could be an LS6. My one owner rad is a PA code I think the tanks are like yours --
mine is an LS5 - M22 - With air its an El Camino.

My one owner 70-LS-5--M-22--A/C-- El Camino has the " PA " Rad.
Left tank is " I F " Right tank is " X J "
I think " PA " means 4 Speed NO tranny Cooler inputs.
Also just below the rad. cap, The word " Harrison " is stamped in the tank in small letters. Not real sure about the PA and the 74 numbers.

Thanks . I will start the hunt. I am thinking a Monte with air may be the same. I talked to a dealer today and he said he had a set of tanks $700 . He thinks they're gold not brass. Are the IF and Xj stamped in the tanks? Gary

And to think I hauled 4 four core Harrison radiators to the recycler a year ago when I was moving. I distinctly remember seeing the XJ on at least 2 of the tanks.
And I can tell you that I took most of those radiators out of 68-69 Lemans and GTO parts cars. Don't limit your search to Chevys.

Gary,
The problem with your thought that Monte with air could be the same would be pretty remote. It would have to have HD cooling and a 4-speed to have a PA coded radiator. That would be a pretty rare Monte! Pontiac GTO's in 69-71 also could have a PA radiator as was earlier stated. Either way it's a fairly expensive radiator. Bob (Robinls5) is correct about the tanks having an XJ stamp on the filler neck tank and an IF on the outlet tank. There is another letter stamped in a smaller font in-between the X and the J that denotes the month that the tank was made.
Good Luck with your search,
Chris
