: Took my 468 3200lbs car into the 8 secs ;)
godsend Aug 30th, 04, 1:57 PM Yesterday i i felt preperd for my first 8 sec time. And i went a 8.888/150mph run with a 1.309 60ie
I had a very low n20 pressure (880, dropped to 820 after the run) But we tried. And wow, pressed my button and used both 150hp stages from start ;)
Engine combo is a BSE with Canfield Rects and Microtech EFI.
Uses a 10" A1 3500 stall converter, 4.56 gears with 33" tires.

After the event i packed my car upp with my stuff and drove my mom home in it... Nice having a car that works so well.
Reporting back in a year or two when i hit a 7.99 run ;)

19Nova72 Aug 30th, 04, 10:27 PM That's just awesome! I would like to do that someday. How much power are you makin? Does it get any kind of mileage?
75c10 Aug 30th, 04, 10:34 PM That must be about 900 horsepower! :D
Mike Feudo Aug 30th, 04, 10:37 PM Serious street car!
cody Aug 31st, 04, 12:47 AM well it can't be BSE with "aluminum rectangle" port heads smile.gif that is a ridiculously fast car! do you have a chute on the car yet?

BSE with rect port heads?! I ran 781 for 4 years before this. Had 645hp@6100 with them
Changed to these canfields this year with a lighter car and got 671@5900rpm. But with 30ft/lbs loss of torque...
godsend Aug 31st, 04, 5:32 AM No Chute yet. But next year i will.
About milage. Cruising and some racing will hit 2.5L/10km
1,36L/10km is my best @ constant 130km/h ;)
godsend Sep 1st, 04, 6:40 AM I bent a Rocker stud! ,(
Harold Sutton Sep 1st, 04, 9:59 AM godsend, Those nitrous systems sure must be working good. What does the car run on the motor and how much does it weigh?
Harold Sutton Sep 1st, 04, 10:04 AM godsend, sorry about the dumb weigh thing as i just missed the 3200 lb. thing in your heading the first time. Still would be interested in knowing what it runs on the motor though as the (8.88 E.T.) takes about mid 900s H.P. to run.
godsend Sep 1st, 04, 2:57 PM I run 9.96/218km/h with a 1.45 60.ie and 6.39 201m time.
Harold, for some time ago i posted and posted about a cam change to get a 8 sec slip. I made it with my old Streetroller. But for next year i will need to hit solid low 8:es and mayby 7:ns to keep my friends away @ redlights ;)
Using a 3500 stall A1 converter built after my specs. So tight i never go over 160F anytime. Cruise slippage is none.
I Use twin Nytrex 150hp systems. Hoping to get a 8,6x time before snow makes it impossible.

Mike Feudo Sep 1st, 04, 4:50 PM Am I seeing it correctly? Your peak HP was at a lower RPM with the Canfields as compared to a set of 781s? Something is very wrong somewhere.
505Nova Sep 1st, 04, 5:28 PM Nice pass - congrats! Glide or a turbo??
godsend Sep 1st, 04, 6:12 PM I got a lower compression. From 11.2 down to 10.4 i think that wasnt the best move.
But i got a nice pump gas engine on nitrous.
But i also moved to a more free flowing exhaust and a 2000cfm capable EFI compared to my little 800cfm carb i used for the 645 pull...
I dropped serius power over 6200 rpm with canfields though, But on nitrous. Wow thats reaaly fun over 6000rpm++ ;)
godsend Sep 1st, 04, 6:13 PM Its a TH400 with HD Corvette steel drum. And a homemade shift kit my trans repair guy likes. Otherwise stock
So i can shift manual. Or use Drive. Its easier cruise that way :=)
Harold Sutton Sep 2nd, 04, 12:01 AM Hi godsend, Boy that is one good torque converter and a very rapid 468 also. Sounds like a good combo all the way around. Good luck on your quest for low 8s. The shootout races here bring out the big guns. An '85, purple Camaro with a 632 and three stages of nitrous is the quickest and fastest so far. ( 7.47 @ 183 MPH ) and shut down at the 1200 foot mark when he hit a safety device and the engine laid over. I don't think anyone, including the owner knows what it is capable of. ( Stan "the man" Williams ) from somewhere in Kansas. This car weighes 3500 pounds and has a glide.
godsend Sep 2nd, 04, 5:09 AM That must be a hell of a car ;)
But when streetracing that kind of cars usually gets eliminated with the Law, Transportation problems, misses in driving and more.
A little slower car that is fault-proof can win more. David@Goliath ;)
But it is a really fast car ;)
Harold Sutton Sep 2nd, 04, 9:45 PM Yea it's kind of a different horse than yours, this one couldn't be driven far. Your car is very fast given the standard type motor and low compression and all, it's very impressive. That run would have won the pump gas drags at Memphis, Tennessee this year if you could have made two more just like it. What kind of car is it in?
godsend Sep 3rd, 04, 5:20 AM Its in a 72 Pontiac Lemans.
It was a little long to ship the car over from sweden ;)
