This is for a nice reliable street engine with good drivability. 454 block .030 over a Scat cast 4.25 crank, Scat 4340 6.385 rods, SRP pistons, 10.1 compression, 781 heads that have new Manley 2.19 and 1.88 valves, chambers have been opened up, and the bowls have been blended, Weiand Stealth intake, looking at either a Isky hydraulic flat tappet, or Comp Cams hyd flat tappet cam, the 270 hyd. Magnum cam, or the Isky Mega cam. Both have duration at .050 at around 225 dgree range and .510 .520 lift. 1.75" headers, a Holley 750 DP, a 12 bolt POSI with 3.08 rear gears, 28" tall tires, a Turbo 400, with a stock to slightly above stock stall speed. Looking for a sound street engine that has good manners. Low to mid 13 second runs would be nice. Going in a 1972 Chevelle. Do you guys think this would be a good street motor? Thanks. smile.gif

Sounds good, but i personally would go with more cam, and a dual pattern one at that. Maybe something around the Comp XE274H, and I'd even go bigger that. 230/236@.050 is pretty mild in a 454 let a lone a 489. So u can imagine what ~225 might be like.

I'll 2nd the more cam idea. and I'd expect 12's with some traction. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'd go with the UD/Lunati 288/296 hydraulic flat tappet 231/239 @ .050 .550/.575 110 LSA
Sounds like a fun combo, and that cam will really help things out,and not effect streetability.
Also,a convertor that stalls at least 2500 is key too.I run a 2400 B&M Holeshot..far cry from an ATI,but works good for me.It flashes to about 2800
You'll go quicker than 13's..I ran consistent 13.20-13.30's with a mild a 454 and 2.56's with a best of 12.99
Now I have 3.31's...new bests coming next year graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Or an Isky 280 Mega Hy-cam on the 110 center grind..

But I put a good old CC 282S solid in my 496 for midrange grunt!!
