: Electric choke

My car has been starting great in cold or warm weather ever since I put my Q-jet on. I was praising the electric choke until after my car sat [overnight] I wanted to watch it engage and stuff, and had my mom give the car a bit of gas and start it up. I waited a bit, thinking the juice had to take a sec for the coil to contract and move the choke and stuff. Well, after a minute or so, I just came to the conclusion that I guess the choke has been staying open the whole time. I know you can tune it for rich or lean, and this is in the middle, but I figured at least it should do something. My questions are:

Can the cap w/ the element go bad and need replacing? But mainly, if my car is starting fine (actually, more like extremely well) in any weather condtions I've experienced with the choke staying completely open, should I even worry about this?

Thanks.

Thanks. No. Don't worry about it. If it starts and runs well, it's good to go!

I ran a Holley 4150 for a while with no choke. Never a problem starting in any weather conditions. No reason to worry about a choke.

The Street Avenger that I have now seems to need the choke to work properly at cold startups.
