Hi guys. I am planning on building a 496 BBC for my velle and I found a Mark VI 454 4 Bolt main out of a 93-95 Suburban. I have read a little bit through the seach function, but did not find exaclty what I was looking for. Are these blocks any good for building a 600+hp 496? Will all the parts that I find in Summit (heads, cams ect) work on it? I read something about the clutch pivot ball not being the same. Whats that all about? Anything else that you could tell me about the Mark VI's I would really appreciate it. THanks a lot,
Chris

The 93-95 is a GenV. Most aftermarket heads will work fine. You can use the MarkIV cams. MarkVI appeared in'96

Edit: Oops, I just gave you a whole list of details on the Gen VI block, but Joe's right, you have a Gen V.
If it is a GEN V it won't have a clutch pivot ball provision in the block. I picked a bracket from Scoggin Dickey about 50.00 . Also no fuel pump provision either . Should be a 4 bolt. Most aftermarket heads will work. I have Edelbrock RPM heads on mine. My engine has been estimated about 550 hp / 560 tq . Mark IV heads can be adapted to work. Cams are no problem .One piece rear main . Oil pan you can use aftermarket or a GM has a pan that will work in Chevelles listed in the perfomance parts cataloge. If you need I have all the part #s

Thanks guys. I do not need the part numbers because this is going to be a project to work on when I have enough $$ and time to do when I am not doing anything else. So this is a good starting point for a hot street motor? Sounds good to me! Thanks a lot,
Chris
