Prior to adjusting my rockers and doing a compression check, I removed all the plugs. All eight were very consistant - consistantly white. They probably have 2 or 3 hundred miles on them.
I'm guessing that's probably enough and the ole QJ is still too lean. I thought the 74/41B combination would have been enough!

If you want to know what your plugs are doing, then do this the next time out. Run around 30 MPH and shut the car off and coast to a stop. Pull a couple of plus and see what color. You are looking for a carmal color. White is a lean condition. This will tell you what your primarys are doing. Then, take the car out and run it like you would at the track. Run the living **** out of it and shut it off and coast to a stop. Do the same and pull couple of plugs. This will tell you what the secondaries are doing. Looking for the same color. Adjust the jetting / carb to get the carmal color. Good Luck

With modern pump gas additives, reading plugs is, in my opinion, a total waste of effort. You can tell when they're oiled, you can see melted electrodes, or splashes of aluminum on the ceramic. You can NOT tell rich/lean, though. Might as well swirl your hands around a crystal ball.
Get an O2 sensor or two, preferably the wideband kind.
I have also had a hard time getting any kind of read from my plugs on pump gas. How about scoring some of the "good stuff" at the track, run it down the strip and taking plug readings then. Would this read equate to pump gas tune? That's what I love about our cars.......things that make me go "Hummmmm?" smile.gif Other things to ponder, changes to exhaust system affect carb jetting? Hummmmmm??????? Would jetting for best MPH in the 1/4 affect best tune for the street? Hummmmmm........??? :( What should I do with the little flat bosses that Edelbrock cast om my RPM air gap intake runners, drill and tap for the nitrous jets?????? Hummmmm.....Then I could pull the plugs and see if I melted the electrode down to a nub. Hummmmm?????????

Agree with Shurkey. It's much harder. Vague rish/lean condition by reading the porcelain, or more severe problems maybe. All I know is that my setup burns clean and white. I've richened jetting and lost rip.? Lean and mean. The engine cruises a bit richer now with 6 corner idle ( and mpg is down ) and I can just barely see it in the plugs. I guess that my strip tune, 6 corner and I'm going to bump secondary squirter size. Street is regular 2bbl idle ( and +3-4 mpg on the highway! 11-12 mpg sucks! smile.gif )
Dan, if the throttle response seems crisp, then I wouldn't fatten it up much more.
