Not sure you would want to do that, those wimpy axles break pretty easily.

Yes,it will work..but as Bob mentioned, the axles will be a weak point.

well it comes with 26 spline axles, and i would be willing to upgrade, but if im gonna go through all that i might as well just buy a posi, and rebuild the rear, which i am trying to avoid doing.

Mike,at least with a Lock Rite, you won't have to worry about spider gears :D
But all kidding aside,as long as you don't plan on running slicks, the Lock Rite should do you fine on the street if you're looking for some traction. They are a little pricey for a 7.5 10 bolt IMHO

hey,
well at most, id run drag radials.

the link i posted before offers them for 209 dollars, is that too much for this unit?

Mike,I thought they where $309 for the 7.5
$209 is a great deal!

I am not seeing the 209$. Both the 26 and 28 spline 7.5" are listed at 319$. Maybe typo?

I think you would be better served to buy an aftermarket 9" or 12 bolt to put in the car and be done with it,you're just throwing good money after bad to try and upgrade that rearend. Don't let drag radials fool you, they do hook. One of my sons friends is running a 406 in front of a 7.5" rearend with a mini spool, and has lost 3 axles that I know of already, maybe more. Those axles are very weak.

a friend of mine runs the small 10 bolt with superior 26 spline forged axles for 229 a pair and he runs 8.90 and hasnt cooked it yet and i do mention again yet.

Well,instead of buying axles,keep your eyes put for an 8.5 from a 442,TR-Type,GN etc..either 3.42 or 3.73 gears.
I've seen them for sale locally for $400-500

After what Bob mentioned,I'd guess I'd think twice about using the 7.5 with a locker.
I'm helping a friend of mine put a 454 I sold him into an 80 Malibu, which currently has a 7.5,26 spline 4.10 geared rear..he just picked up an 8.5,so he won't even be drive it with the 7.5 until the new rear goes in.
Plans on using DR's too.
I'm a little daring,I'd try the 7.5 w/a locker if I had to,but I just wouldn't drive the car 270 miles round trip to the track like I do with my 70 SS

well the locker seems like its a great deal, i was just really hoping that the truck diff would be the same as a car diff. i have a rear with 3.42 gears in it, i have 373s at home, but i wont upgrade them until they break, due to the low increase in ratio, ya know?

some forged axles would be a cool idea, i think those, with the locker, and a girdle and i would be set, im planning on 12s, really hoping for mid 11s.

but the two diffs are the same right? i dont see why they wouldnt be.

It will work.as long as its a 26 spline,7.5 unit you will be fine. They adverttise it for trucks, but the applications are for passenger cars as well.
