: Love them BFG's!
10secBu Sep 11th, 04, 9:01 PM Made four passes with our local DOT heads up street car organization.
I'm flat out impressed with how well these BFG drag radial tires work (325/50-15 on a 9.5" wide rim). I thought they were good when new, as they hooked equal to a pair of 9 x 30 Hoosier radial slicks. As these drag radias are wearing down, there just getting better and better.
Todays 60's were 1.471, 1.445, 1.443, 1.433  :D graemlins/thumbsup.gif . Previous best was 1.464.
Our class has a per race bonus for the quickest 60' in competition. It's a 10.0 index/breakout heads up class. Last event I won the very first bonus award ($50). This event has the same bonus which I may have won again...won't know till probably tomorrow. Pretty odd how my car is in the middle/back of the pack ET wise for the class (lucky to go past first round), but my car 60's about the quickest of any car in the class graemlins/thumbsup.gif .
Assuming I stil have the car come next spring, it's likely be due for new tires. May have to try the MT ET Street radials next time as I heard rumors of BFG changing the tread design of the drag radials to the G-force import style tread...no confirmation of that though.
way to go Todd! I really wish I had made it to one of the MSRA events, you guys put on a good show from what i hear
TROY Sep 11th, 04, 10:16 PM nice todd which track were you runnin at?

Thats not Odd, thats BSE power! </font>[/QUOTE]Yup, them BSE's run great when equiped with aluminum rods, single plane intakes, large 2" headers, x-pipes, tail pipes, street tires, fiberglass hood & bumper, anti-roll bar, blah, blah, blah. tongue.gif :D
Remind me again how many BSE rides are equiped this way and how many of these pieces of equipment are on the BSE recipe? ;)
The whole basis behind the BSE was to build torque. This lil rat doesn't make much in comparison to Ed's 454 (this has just 360 ft/lb at the rear wheels IIRC). What it does have is a chassis that is working well in relation to the power production in conjunction with a fairly efficient driveline.
Put my tires on Ed's car and you'll likely see him smoke the tires to the 1/8 mile timers.
Motor Martyr Sep 11th, 04, 10:51 PM Whatever.
10secBu Sep 11th, 04, 11:08 PM Brian, I'm not discussing this any further with you. It's none of your business.
bowtie455 Sep 11th, 04, 11:55 PM anybody have pics of those 325/50-15's on their ride? i'm thinking of gettin'em for mine!
Chris_69_SS Sep 12th, 04, 12:00 AM Todd,
Very impressive times. That malibu sure is a sweet ride.
I have tried to email you a few times but it keeps bouncing back. Please shoot me an email as I have a few questions that I am sure you could answer.
Thanks!

I couldn't get better than a 1.98 with the 325/50 DR's......guess that has a lot to do with a Cobra not being exactly right for drag racing and a crummy track! graemlins/clonk.gif
Congrats, that's flying!

Bob West Sep 12th, 04, 2:55 AM Congrats Todd....I've had my best ever 60ft on BFG's also, 1.64 smile.gif
DragRacer Sep 12th, 04, 6:53 AM Congratulations Todd! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
It looks like those rumors may be true about the tread changing.

1BadBu Sep 12th, 04, 9:46 AM If you follow the link above to BFG you will see it says "alternate tread pattern available". Click on it and you go to another version of the same GForce T/A Drag Radial tire with a different tread pattern. One version is old-school and one is the new style like the ricers use. A great marketing move.

You must have a serious spam blocker or something... I don't know Chris...my ISP does have some sort of spam blocking on thier server which it goes through before it ever gets to me. Maybe there's something in your e-mail content or address that it doesn't like and it bounces it...don't know.
Guess we can just use TC PM?
Chris_69_SS Sep 12th, 04, 11:35 AM I re sent the email from another account and it hasn`t bounced back yet...

ZZ69chevelle Sep 12th, 04, 3:35 PM Wow, I actually got to read one of these before it got cleaned up. :D
thunderstruck507 Sep 12th, 04, 5:16 PM Is the alternate tread similar to the gforce KDW? I think it looks kinda cool myself...
BigRed-L72 Sep 12th, 04, 5:47 PM 10secBu, are you able to "mat it" on leaving? seems so with the consistancy of your passes.
I have the 295/60`s and I definetly have to "drive it out" as they will haze if I lean on them too hard.
My Bud`s Camaro has run 1.5`s with the same tire but only a couple times, his 534" will annihilate them if he doesn`t ease into it.
You setup seems near perfect with just the right amount of torque, nice job graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Guess this "low torque" short stroke bbc works well with the DR's. With a larger stroke engine, the outcome would quite possibly be much different.

Yeah baby! graemlins/thumbsup.gif Nice launch is right!
Bob West Sep 13th, 04, 9:36 PM see...drag radials don't hook  :D
ejrempel Sep 13th, 04, 10:37 PM Be carefull of nosebleeds at that altitude! ;)
TROY Sep 13th, 04, 10:48 PM very nice launch todd. im amazed at the hook at that track when prepped. only time i ever tried drag radials was at 75 80. i only could get a high 1.70's out of them. definetly would have to do some susp tuning. we got a set in today at work with gforce on them, tread looked the same though at a quick look ill have look at them closer tomorrow. we are putting them on a 69 camaro with a 540 4 speed and no suspension. dynoed 670 ft lbs of tqe, thatshould be an interesting ride. lol
bottlerat Sep 14th, 04, 9:14 PM Nice job Todd, way to go. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
