Looking at QA1-R coilovers for the front of my 66 ..have seen here to use the small block spring for BB cars ....... can I assume you still can get a stock ride height adjustment with these springs ??

My friend used the big-block set for his 67 GTO/400. He's a big guy(300+), and the front end is harshly stiff. I used the small-block set for my all iron big-block 69 Camaro, it works fine. At the ride height I like, I can still raise it over an inch more, or lower it. Good Luck........DC

Yes I have heard the "R" series in short supply ......where did you place order ? and is the "R" series any different in price from the regular GM shock coilover kit at $456.00 at Summit ?

QA-1 springs must vary ALOT because I tried small block springs on my 66 chevelle BB,Alum heads, aluminum Vega box,no power brakes. Light weight, I thought. Springs were virtually coil bound. Put BB springs and it is fine. Go figure. If anyone needs QA-1 small block springs let me know. Brand new.

I'm running BB springs on my QA1 coilovers and my 69 Elky w/SBC & T56 trans. It's pretty stiff.
What do you want for the SB QA1 springs?

Update ...... Paradise Racing seem to be the place to buy QA1 good prices and they know their stuff pbly give them an order soon.......

QA1 have come out with a longer shock for our cars .it seems the original front shock used in the coil overs was built assuming most had lowered cars ?? so now this new version is longer with more travel for cars set at stock height ......new pn is gmp 34 for small block springs as oppossed to gmp 14 .... of course the 90-10 version adds "R" to pn. FWIW

This setup works well. I was involved in the early testing of what is now the "R" package before there ever was such a thing. The basic changes are 90/10 valving and a longer shock rod. I worked with a company called D&D Racetech. Denny used to be one of the chief designers at HAL/QA1 before he ventured off on his own. I've been running this setup on my car for over 1 year:

Bill Bill, I don't want to take the credit for this setup. I was referred to D&D Racetech by QA1. D&D had been working with a couple of class racer's cars using this setup with good sucess. I was simply another test mule. No doubt that Denny was responsible in part (if not in whole) for the R series package. He flat knows shocks and suspension setups.

Have any of you had to modify teh a-arm to get the shocks in? I have read that this is a problem. Is this true?
Thanks

Did any of you have to modify the a-arm to get the shock in? If so, what was involved?

Thanks
