Chadwick, I mounted a quicksilver in my console and I have a brand new unused base I'm willing to sell. How does $15 plus shipping sound? I don't understand why your car won't pass inspection the way it is. I wouldn't think they would care if it had the cover on it or not. If you are interested, email me.

do u have any pics of how u went about mounting this in your console, did u have to fabricate the top piece or did u use hte manual insert?

i had simular problems with mine. i got all the parts from JEGS. took a while as they were on back order. be specific with you tell them, they sent me some of the wrong parts. finally had to call B&M for the right part #s. finally got it all fixed though. Dave

i think you misunderstood what i said. Its not that when i bought the shifter parts were missing, when i bought hte car the parts were missing. I would like to see how TW mounted it in his console, i wanted to do that at first, but i dont want to hack up my console because eventually im going to either put the staple shifter or manual in there.

I installed mine in my stock console as well. The only thing I had too butcher was the top plate I had that was for an auto. It was in bad shape so I did not care any way. I will try too get some pictures up.

Look in my sig for pictures of the console. They are crappy pics but maybe you will get the idea

Sorry Chadwick, I have been away from my computer. My car is a 66, so the console mounting will be different than yours. Mark's console is closer to what you will have. I set up my shifter so it looks completely stock. I shimmed the shifter to line up perfectly within the stock groove for the auto shifter. The only give away that it couldn't be stock is that the chrome handle says Quicksilver on it. I can take a picture for you if you like, but it will be different than the console that goes in your car. Maybe if you do a search on aftermarket shifters in consoles on this site, you may find this was discussed before.

hmm going by what i found on here by using hte stock auto top plate, removing hte gear indicator lense, and using some creative fabrication to fill in the holes im able to mount the shifter nicely in hte console and it looks like a custom job smile.gif

just gotta bolt it all up.

I figured you would be happier if you mounted it in the console. IMO it looks better than the base that the shifter comes with.
