now that i'm done playing with my 414ci bbc i'm hitting it hard on my drag car.

i'm stiffening up my chassis with roll bar and adding all the safety equipment for which i lacked the last time i had it at the track and got a warning not to return until it meets the 10 sec. requirements of the rules.

i thought since i have the tranny out and the motor tore down to the short block. i would try and make more hp to run even faster then my last outing of 126 mph.

i bought a squareport weiand tunnel ram, and i bought two matching 600 vs holleys.

im going to replace the small tubed headers with some 2" super comp headers.

i'm tearing the heads down to do some more port work and polish up the chambers alitte better, i have to make alittle more clearence in the chambers since it appears the pistons has kissed the heads in a few spots.

the compression ratio is close to 13.5 to 1 in this engine. i'm running some 148 casting truck heads i will have to re cc them after i do some more clean up work since i cant remember what they was at since i put the motor together last.

they was rated at 112 cc factory.

im going to try and see if i can push the compression to 14.0 to 1 if i can. and open the intake runners some to match the squareport intake.

but i'm kinda wondering if i should up the cam some. i have a roller cam from doug herbert that has 256/268 @ .050 with a .685 lift.

i'm not going to run nothing on the block but a electric moroso water pump and just an electric fan mounted on a single row radiator. run dual battery's in the trunk.

i have taken the nitrous off since going with tunnel ram.

the car is going to be way lighter it should be an easy 2900 lbs car by the time im done.

These are oval port heads?
The 600 VS will be very lean in the circuts.
My friends run the same ram with 2 660 center squirters on a 468 your gonna want a Tbrake to make it leave.
Cam is a Lunati 50226 with GM 990 heads.
They run a glide,4:57 gear car weighs 3400lbs and turns 9:70's@ 135.
Your car being lighter and more aerodynamic should be faster. good luck

1968 hotrod, what is your combo? I run a 468 with solid roller cam and gm 990 with mild cleanup work done on them and a holley strip dominator. I'm just asking because I ran out of time to get my new engine down to the track this year and was just looking at what some other cars do and see yours really moves. I see alot of guys going against the rectangular port heads here, so just wondering what yours is, Thanks, Jeff

Quik ss,
pretty much same as posted above except I run a Dominator,Edelbrock Victor and a Ultradyne cam with closed chamber heads.
My friends car outruns mine easily though, they have better heads more comp and a larger cam.
