Im thinking about swapping a 700R4 into dads 70' chevelle. It currently has a very tired stock th350. The motor will be mild, probably a 383 with nothing more than 400-450 hp and it will never have slicks on it. The car is a column shift car if this makes a difference. Is this swap easy? What all does it take?

I went with the 200R4 over the 700R4. I think alot will agree but just in case you are not aware the 200R4 is a good replacement for a 350 as it uses the same driveshaft and crossmember.

I remember seeing a post about this recently over in the Transmission forum.

we put a 700 in my friends 69 chevelle. Used the same crossmember but had to enlarge the holes in the frame just slightly. he had a driveshaft made but it was a powerglide
originally. easy install and i personaly prefer the 700.

Check out Bowtie overdrives and get their TV made easy kit for your TV cable. It is a well engineered kit that allows you to have exact geometry for the cable pull. That cable controls the line pressure of the trans and without proper setup you will kill the trans very quickly.
