I was under the impression that if an engine had double hump heads that there were no threaded holes to bolt any brackets to. :o

No earlier style small block head had any bolt holes in the front. In '65 all the brackets bolted to the block, water pump or intake manifold bolt locations. It was a number of years later when they started bolting things to the heads.

All '65 L79s had 461 heads. As mentioned above, power steering and power brakes were entirely separate options and either or both could have been had along with an L79.

Chevrolet's first use of the "bolt hole" heads was in 1969. They were used in conjunction with the long water pump in passenger car applications. This was the year when the genious engineers decided the alternator needed to be on the right and routed all the AC hoses to the left side of the engine. Does anyone have a GOOD explanation as to why they did this? The trucks still used short water pumps through the 1972 model year and had the accessory AC on the right and alternator on the left as in years past.
