Calling all tranny gurus. i have a th350 im going to swap in place of a powerglide as some of you may know. check out this kit:

what do you think of that kit vs getting the TCI super rebuild kit part #328800
i also found on ebay that i could buy the transgo shift kit for 50 bucks and a "th350 super master rebuild kit" for 80+ shipping.
out of the three, which kit would be the most bang for my buck when rebuilding the trans for mostly street and some strip use.

Not a bad deal good bang for the buck. However replace the dacron filter with the screen type the dacron is more prone to clogging in the TH350.

yars ago i used a YCI super pro kit I bought from summit. cost about $150 or so back then. It came with everything needed. The only thing I didn`t like about it was the 2-3 shift felt stock but the 1-2 was firm and the tranny lasted about 5 years or so behind a couple hot small blocks.

yeah i was thinking about getting the the TCI super rebuild kit part #328800 or B&M's kit. what else would i need?
as far as tools are concerned, what ones would i need to do this trans myself?
what im thinking of doing is taking the trans to a local guy who said he'd help me tear it apart and tell me if the parts inside are good enough to rebuild with and if everything is good maybe ill have him hot tank it and rebuild it myself...

A rear clutch compressor. There about $42.00
I would recommend a CD on rebuilding a turbo 350 and have a transmission shop install all the bushing.

ok cool sounds reasonable. so standard tools plus the clutch compressor... how much do u think is a reasonable price to have a shop hot tank the unit and install new bushings?

Don`t take this the wrong way but if you had trouble adjusting the valves on your motor, I would`nt attempt a trans build. You said before you had a guy qoute you $600 with a warrantee. Go for that one.

i had trouble with the valves because the pushrods were too short...

you know what I was talking about but anyway, the TCI super pro kit came with everything I needed unless you want a harsher shift kit. If you got a guy who will tear it apart for you see if you can watch so you know how it goes. Definatly get a book or video on how to build them. I`ve heard they are pretty simple but I`ve never tried it. Maybe one of the tranny shops in your area can bench test it for you when your done.
