I need to remove the dashpad from my 68 SS 396 and I was wondering if anyone had some sort of diagram of how to do this. I understand that I need to drop the steering wheel a little, and remove the plastic dash that covers the radio, speedo, clock, etc. If there is some sort of diagram, I would really appreciate it because I need to repair the pad and NOT use a repo.

Thanks

I'm not positive because I have done this on 65s only. The cardboard insert for the glove compartment should be removed also. I'm sure others will know and send you the diagram, if there is one.

There 6 to 8 speed nuts you need to get at from under the dash and 2 screws on the side near the A pillars. THe best way to see them is to remove the glove compartment (as Frank said) and you will see two or three of them. There is no need to remove the dash plastic piece unless you are doing something else with it. Not too hard.

Ok, I got the dashpad out, and what it involves is there are 2 quicknuts under by the glovebox, and you need to take out the cardboard insert of the glove box. There is one about mid dash, and then there is 1 right around the clock area, and then one right above the light switch. I had to drop the steering column, and take the plastic dash back a little to access the quick nuts.

Thanks to all who replied
