AdamLym Apr 30th, 04, 11:24 AM Hi Kent graemlins/waving.gif
How are things going in Westville?
BTW - the cruise night in La Porte is June 5th, starts around 6 or 7.
CDN SS Apr 30th, 04, 11:28 AM I don't think he does but that link will get him he has responded to me
texastornado Apr 30th, 04, 11:35 AM My guess is he lurks around and reads the posts, but doesn't respond to them. However, if you say something negative about him, he will send you and email to let you know about it. I'll test my theory. Hey Dave, how many 1969 ZL1 Camaro's do you have left? Sorry, couldn't resist..... smile.gif
pdq67 Apr 30th, 04, 5:08 PM My old Buddy I worked with years ago lives/lived at New Carlyle, IN.
Great country, the So. Bend area, imho..

BillsCamino Apr 30th, 04, 5:32 PM FYI, just so happens I got an email from Dave Ray today...
Quote:
"I am just starting to move out of California, and both the phone numbers and address will change, and it will not serve either of us at this time. I am hoping to be back full in the new spot by mid June. Please keep visiting my web site kinked below, and when the address/phone numbers change, I will be full back to doing the conversions in the new place."

AdamLym May 1st, 04, 12:59 AM PDQ, I went to high school in New Carlisle, whats your friends name?
Kent, I havent been at ND for 3 semesters - I wasn't happy with the engineering program they had there so I thought I'd try a semester somewhere else. To make a long story short I'm working towards a bachelors degree in automotive technology management/engineering with a minor in AutoCad from Indiana State. I've also been taking classes learning to use lathes, milling machines, CNC, CAD/CAM, then ARC, MIG, and TIG welding. 21 credit hours this semester, and for the heck of it I'm taking 5 ASE exams next week. I'd like to be ASE master certified by the time I'm done with school. I'm loving it right now and have zero regrets about leaving ND.
Did you see my engagement announcement in the La Porte paper about a month ago?
You wont be seeing my chevelle at cruise night either, too many projects going on and not enough $$.
We'll have to meet up for a beer one of these days graemlins/beers.gif
Adam and Kent; This is probably before your time, but in the early to mid 60's, a New Carlisle F*rd dealer, Romy Hammes F*rd, sponsored a series of F*rd's factory Super Stock drag cars. The cars were driven by Dick Brannan. I believe the dealership was later changed to Dick Brannan F*rd. Do you know the status of the dealership now? Gone, different name, still Brannan F*rd?
BACKN 68 May 1st, 04, 10:00 AM Adam - Sounds like you made the right decision. Let us know if you open up a shop around here. smile.gif
Von - I'll ask around at work, see if anyone knows/remembers Brannan F*rd. Not sure if you remember, but we "met" a few years ago when I mentioned that I had a '96 Z28SS Camaro. tongue.gif
Also - just received 2 e-mails from Mr. Dave Ray with enough information to hopefully solve my timing advance/carb problems. Wanted to publicly thank him. It is not often that someone will help out a complete stranger. Dave if your listening, thanks again for your time. graemlins/beers.gif

cmt454 May 1st, 04, 10:14 AM I think Dick Brannan (sp) used to drive one of those outrageous Ford Thunderbolts
dyno jonn May 1st, 04, 10:15 AM All of those F*rd dealerships are history. Dick Brannan is putting a CD out that has his racing history with F*rd, Romy Hammes and his own dealership. http://www.dickbrannan.com/ A friend of Brannan's showed me a early copy a year or so ago. There's a lot on it. He also had a book, but the book was a one off deal, I think. Northern Indiana was big time street and strip drag racing area back in the 60's and 70's.
pdq67 May 1st, 04, 11:02 AM AdamLym,
He may be gone by now b/c he was pushing 66 back in '85 or '86 when the company retired him??
Charlies and Betty Rogers, they have a son named Denny or Dennis that's probably pushing maybe 55 to 60(??) by now.
Charlie taught me how to gun refractory castables and how to run the different types of castable gunning machines when I was transferred up to So. Bend back in '83 to learn how to install refractories in industrial furnaces for AP Green Refractories Company that was in Mexico, MO until I left it in '95.
APGreen was closed down permanently by RHI, the parent Co. a couple of years ago. HOW sad, a great company to say the least!!! From a high of about 750 to almost zero employment now!!
There are no firebrick plants in what WAS known as the "Firebrick Capitol of the World", Mexico, MO.. Used to be seven in the area through the years, but only three now all owned by RHI and I figure one of them will bite the dust pretty soon..
BTW, Yes, I thought a lot of him and his.
My family moved up to So. Bend to be with me for a while until I got to come back to mid MO.
Always liked So. Bend, (the "Mich-Ianna"(Sp??) area), especially all the small town festivals every spring straight through til fall...
I'm sorry, I'm rambling on about non-car stuff..
Please carry-on....

LeoP May 1st, 04, 11:21 AM Adam, I think you need 5 years experience to actually recieve the certs. Check that out, I am Master Certified in Auto and was in Truck too.
AdamLym May 1st, 04, 4:11 PM Leo, if you pass the exams you need 2 years of experience to recieve your certification. My schooling counts for 1 year of experience, and I'm planning on working at an automotive machine shop or race shop, which will get me the required 2 years. Recertification is every 5 years, so maybe thats what you were thinking of.
I keep forgetting to mention, IgnitionMan has been a big help to me in the past via e-mail. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
