: Does anyone run an IMCO or Raptor muffler
Clyde_Maston Jan 30th, 05, 11:14 AM I've been looking on the web at the new IMCO performance mufflers that look like they would flow pretty good but I have never heard anyone on any of the sites that I read talk about them. I see that Holley/Flowtech also makes a Raptor muffler that is supposedly for performance. Anyone run them? They don't look as good as the IMCO though in construction.
Please limit responses to the IMCO and Raptor. I have noticed that whenever someone asks a similar type of question, the forum ususally turns into a discussion of what most users have on their ride. I know all about Flowmaster, magnaflow, dynomax, etc. There are hundreds of reponses about them.
Thanks,
Clyde

gilby246 Feb 25th, 07, 5:15 PM I use raptors on my engine test stand cause they were cheap... if your lookin for a mean sounding muffler these are not for you. they work well on my stand cause they are quiet and I can hear the engine
quikss Feb 25th, 07, 6:58 PM I have IMCO 2 1/2 on my chevelle, I am just replacing them now that I am doing a frame off. I thought they were loud when I got on it, louder than I personally care for. Had a nice rumble to them, but too loud. Although I should say, when I took the body off I found numerous holes in the floor that may have contributed to the loudness in the car.
As far as construction they seem well put together, I have had my car 6 years now and they were on it when I bought it, they are still in good condition.

Cable Mar 27th, 07, 4:35 AM I am running a single offset/center 2.25" in/out Flowtech Raptor on my 2006 HHR. Good mellow tone, not all pitchy like alot of mufflers sound on 4 bangers.
It was alittle louder at first, but mellowed with mileage (about 500 miles).
Sounds really nice at WOT from a start or on the freeway.
tgw323 Mar 27th, 07, 5:59 AM Raptors are quiet. Noticed 2.5" necks down going into muffler.

That's odd, but I'd guess they use the same case for all their mufflers and the inlet/outlet pipe sizes are the only differences.
I remember clearly that mine neither got bigger or smaller going from the inlet/outlet into the case.
I'd bet that the 2.25" is the standard since its the most common size pipe size.
GM PARTS1 Mar 27th, 07, 3:37 PM I called Holley and he said the After Burner was best 4 me instead of the Raptor. Have yet to put them on but looking through them I think he's right! :) It's a combination of a turbo and mouse trap design but yet straight thru. Hard to explain. Go to Advance Auto and PDQ a set and look at them.
