I've been checking old posts for dash paint. I've got the gloss, but what about durability? What is the best paint to use on the dash area that has the right gloss but also will stand up to the high heat and perhaps shoes, getting accidentally wacked, etc. I'm concerned that using something like Eastwoods Chassis Black or a ready to spray will not yield a very tough finish. How about using a straight epoxy primer and spraying wet coats to get gloss (I think that is what they did on the V8TV SS496 convertible)? Does epoxy age well? I've heard it gets chalky after a while. How about a single stage Omni urethane with a clear coat? What have you folks used?

try the eastwood satain black, wheel paint that stuff tough for wheel s and just aright amount of gloss for the dash , for the glove box area, for the part above the pad (correct me if im wrong) but flat black is best maybe 5% gloss at most

Be careful with any epoxy as many are not UV resistant. The original finish was lacquer. That's what I used.

Epoxy will chaulk has it has no UV resistance, even SPI chaulks.
Just go with OMNI single stage urethane, no point in clearing it too.

Are you referring to the MTK series?

After tring lots of stuff I have gone back to good old delstar(centari). Dar 9000,add the amount of flatner yourself or I have the paint store add 20% flatner. mix it all up in a gallon can with thinner. When ever I want I just pour some into a spray cup ,add hardner and go. this old stuff sprays nice ,isn't as picky or pricey, and gets hardner that lacquer. gary

I dont remember what line the OMNI ss is under anymore, havent used in about 4yrs.:hurray:

If you are really worried about the abuse issue just head down to your local dupont dealer and pick up some Imron 2.0, you would be hard pressed to find a more abuse taking paint then Imron
