bastards.....i know it was a rerun but they made 100hp AT THE REAR WHEELS by switching from an old LS6 intake and a 800DP to an RPM airgap, and an 800 Edelbrock carb????? Give me a fu***ng break. If that wasnt the most rigged up piece of crap advertisment that Vic ever bought i dont know what is. Could that carb been any farther out of tune? what did somone weld the #7 port shut on the LS6 intake? What gives? And the reason i call them bastards is now there going to have every kid in town Running to buy the Air gap and 800 carb and theyre not going to see the results like that....sorry had to vent, i just remembered it forgot to post saturday

This same bitching and moaning came up when the episode originally aired. They tell you in the program that the old carb was out of tune and that you would probably not see that kind of result.

Does the show make money by making a product look good? Of course. Do they alter things to make the product look better than it is? No. It just came out that way on this car.

Search in Bench Racing, Chuck responded there the last time.

Tim.

Remember that when it comes to any magazine or telivision program it comes down to who pays the bills.
Do not believe anything that you see on TV or read in a magazine.Don't ever take stock in what you see in a magazine dyno test.

Most people want more money, rich people simply want more.

Like Tron said, run a search. This issue was thrashed out quite a while back.

I assure you that Chuck and Joe aren't in Vic Edelbrock's hip pocket.

John Himself-

I don't have anything against Ebrock.
When it comes to building HP,lets just say their carbs are not close to being my first choice.

When it comes to daily driver reliability they are close to the top.

Dynogate again? Argh.

New definition of bastard - Those that cause uninformed people to run out and buy Edelbrock products because those people dont pay attention to the details and disclosures during a TV show.

Gotcha. tongue.gif

LOL, I remember watching that episode and recall laughing out of my chair speaking a foul language. 100 hp?? I also remember the comment about the out-of-tune carb.

Nothing to get too excited over...as long as you remember that the advertisers make that show possible, and make sure you keep common sense at hand. :D

As a matter of fact, that motor gained exactly what the boys said it did. And they did say that this is what can be expected when you replace a dead carb with a good new one. There was no deception. They said the 780? was junk. But you know what, I saw Michelle again! Mmmmmm, redheads!

I honestly didnt hear them mention anything about the carb being out of tune.....that carb must have been a serious pile of shizzle to cause a 100 RWHP loss. Im sure there not going to exagerate their dyno runs but i wouldnt be surprised if they "detuned" her quite a bit for it to run THAT badly, Oh and about that Mischelle, i really hope they pay her well to be that annoying....at least she "detuned" her act quite a bit over the last few episodes i saw.....i know, i know, now im a jerk BUT.... Chuck and Joe are still pun flinging bastards smile.gif

I liked the looks of the El Camino better with the SS hood on it. I noticed it had CA plates on it and the show is filmed in Tenn. Do you think Goodmark is in cahoots with Edelbrock? graemlins/clonk.gif

Why don't you put out a question to ACES1(Chuck)himself? He frequents this site, and, by the way, also coordinates ACES and Chevellebration.

I'm sure he would be glad to explain it to you directly.

I am not saying that 100% of the statements on Trucks, PHR TV, or Chuck and Joes show are factual or show 100% true results, but give them a break, I hardly think that they deserve to be called bastards...

I gotta agree that the 100 hp pick-up was probably a absolute "best case" scenario and I can't find anyone locally that runs a EBrock carb at the strip. But, I will soon be running a set of EBrock "rovals" in the '70 and I hope they pick me up 100 hp!

However, calling Joe and Chuck names is a bit too much. Have you ever met either of them? I have and they both seemed like good guys to me. In fact, Joe was at our local cruise-in just a month or so ago with a camera crew filming for a episode of HP TV that should air in late January. I talked with him at length and even though he is a blue oval fan, he seemed pretty cool to me.

Im not saying there bad guys,in fact they seem like a couple of nice fellas, and i shouldnt call names but i just got upset/entertained by the thought of people being suckered into the deal and figured id BS about it for a bit.
Formal Apology:

Sorry Chuck....your not a bastard, either is Joe.
There i said it.....
But the puns durring the Hot Parts segment are still the most entertaining part of the whole show, the whole "Ford Belt Drive, is gonna Belt your wallet oh about 900 bucks" did it for me. smile.gif
