I want to get a new oil pan to replace the stock on my bbc. But I don't want to break my bank. My problem is that I lose a lot of oil pressure when making hard turns, or U-turns. Is there a pan that can help with that. Also, what type of gasket to use? Is this a do-it-yourself job, or should I have someone put it on? TIA graemlins/beers.gif

I was watching I think the Mothers Car show on TV and some of those oil pans they have are REAL expensive, one was $1500!

Don,
Milodon and Moroso offer good quality oil pans for a decent price. Make sure that the pan you buy is specifically designed to fit a Chevelle. Due to front crossmember location, the pan sump must be somewhat shorter than that for other chassis.

On Ebay there is a lot of 5 quart to 8 quart for a resonable price. You could probably
get one for under $100. Make sure you use the proper pickup/pump to match the pan it should be about 3/8 or 1/2 from the bottom of the pan.
You could change it in the car but since you probably have a stock pickup I would recommend
a stock pan.

Mine is a Milodon pan,,,just wish I would have put a windage tray in, I'm losing some oil pressure on the big end, it drops to 25-30 psi.

I run a Milodon stock replacement pan/stock oil pump..no problems.I've never lost oil pressure with any BBC or any other motor making u turns or hard turns, but I'm not a NASCAR driver either :D ;)
