The car is up on stands and I have everything disconnected except the bellhousing bolts and where I am going to drop the tranny from. If it all works out well I can unbolt the trans to where the old tailshaft used to be where the gear vendors sits now, and then I have 4" of move back room on the crossmember, which should give me enough to clear the output splies and the little nub on the converter so I can drop the trans clear down.
I am hoping to have it running by the end of the weekend, if I can get my differential fixed by myself (see problem in trans). Just an odd note, is it normal to hear stuff shake around inside a converter while its in the box? not like loose parts, but just stuff moving.. never noticed that before...
The converter he says will stall between 3600 and 4000, and he shot for 3800 exact, but gave me that range. Said it will bite just a few hundred rpm after my torque "line" (until 5300) comes into play at like 3400. At the worst, it will just make my gas mileage go back up to driveable, at the best I am hoping to pick up some mph. I will do a slip % test at the dyno shop within a few weeks, that is if I am not sick of the car by the end of this weekend. I start out trying to fix stuff, and break it more..
It looks like a well built unit and turn around was quick, and it actually cost a little less than they originally quoted me. I put off buying new ET streets for this, so I hope its going to be worth something.. driveability, speed, whatever.. Then if I can crank out 11.50's on 26*10.5ET streets and do some tweaking for MPH..
My slip is 18-22% from 35 to 80 mph and evens out at 9.5 @ 117.. Maybe an improvement there would help something.
At some point I need to _stop_ doing things to this car!
