Is the seller the owner of Ausley's or something? Seem's every chevelle related auction in his feedback either needs to be picked up from Ausleys or comes with a gift certificate or discount to Ausley's.

I never put too much credence into the "apparent" auction results on ebay. Too many times there are phantom bidders involved - especially when the bids appear to be out of whack. Ebay does little to nothing to discourage such ploys, but I'm not saying that is involved here. Ausley is doing real well with these cars they find in fields, more power to them.

I know that price guides are also subject to arguments, but a FAIR condition '69 Chevelle SS396 is $8000 on Manheimgold; not that its the be all end all,BUT it IS a "guide" so to speak. So, if all the numbers are there, its actually priced 25% or so BELOW fair condition price. NOt too bad. I think the way a NuMa car like that should be looked at is by what IS there- because it looks like for all intents and purposes that its a complete car..The carb is there as is the rest, the interior is rough but COMPLETE, etc. Not an AWFUL deal, but like Bomber67 said, who knows if the high bidder is legit.

Thats how rediculous the "Numbers matching" deal is. It flat out dosent matter unless you have the protecto plate and documentation. otherwise how the hell are you supposed to know. I think 6500 is a fricken rip off. the car is rusty, the intirior is junk, it dosent run, EVERYTHING needs a rebuild. Somone is getting hosed.

My thoughts are it's gonna cost atleast 30k to make that car right.....even if it's 20k ....With the 6k purchase price there gonna have near 30-40 K in this car......I would think you could find a real sweet real SS car, for that money or alot less......Like this one....There is another guy on here that just bought a 70 SS for I think in the 2K range......Either way I just think 6300 is making the seller a happy guy.......

Heck, my First Gen. 350 SS/RS sitting up on stands must be worth $40,000 unfinished!!!

And I will even throw in my new, unfired 496 BB and good 406 SB, plus my new Mustang Bullitt's, tires and all to boot....

PS., WOW, we used ta call stuff like that a "parts car".... Geez, a couple a window's open since '81 and pretty much outside to boot...

I have to agree - That is at best a #4 probably a #5 car. Certainly not a "FAIR" condition car. In my mind, worth no more than $3K. Some people are just nuts. I personally don't care if the car is numbers or not. That's only for rich folks that want bragging rights or a reason to say "my Chevelle is better than yours". I say let them spend their money! My clone looks just as good as any numbers car and runs better than the factory LS6. A no brainer to me!

JMHO - Troy.

The market creates the prices- people are paying that kind of money, so those cars are selling. They arent making them anymore- the supply is "shrinking" for cars with original engines, etc. Heck, the supply is shrinking period.

There are other "ways (there are alot of grey areas there too)" to tell if a car has the original engine, tranny, etc. Sight unseen though, its a MAJOR crap shoot. I love Chevrolet, but those Chrysler guys are golden when it comes to this stuff. Those stinking fender tags seem like they have every option/whatever the car came with. Makes it sort of a cut and dry proposition, I suppose. Too bad for Chevy enthusiasts, I guess.
