Anyone here using one of these on a carburated engine ? I can understand how one would use this on an inline motor ...but not sure how it gets an accurate reading with only one sensor getting a reading from one bank ??

I have one & have done some testing against the $2000 one on my dyno & it looks very promising.
Only had a chance to test it on a couple of engines but so far it appears within 1 to 2%.
It will work just fine on one side.
If you were curious you could weld bungs in both pipes & compare but I have found very little if any difference bank to bank.

no but I have been thinking about it. I have had some troublew with my plugs fouling and can't figure it out. There are simpler ones in summit and jegs that you screw into your collectors I believe and then a digital read out shows up on the box.

CDN SS,

I have the innovative unit and it works great. I have only used it on one side of the engine, but really, if you read your plugs and they are even cylinder to cylinder, it's a good reference tool.

If you buy one, recalibrate it often - I got a bad reading on a run and almost leaned it right out because I was watching the A/F and it said 12.5:1 through the lights. The plugs looked like 14:1.

It was useful in helping my get idle/part throttle and air bleeds tuned. I haven't used the downloading features where you can datalog a run - I only watched the live readout during street cruising and dyno pulls.

I am sharing mine with a few others, but I think we will each have our own soon enough.

Innovative themselves were great to deal with - they shipped a unit, there was a mixup, so they overnighted me a second unit and they ate the shipping, and the return shipping on the original order when it showed up. A class act.

The ones in jegs and summit that are simpler are not WIDE BAND. They are not very useful for tuning. The LM-1 is about the cheapest wide band logger available.

Mike and Ryan ........Thanks that is what I wanted to hear .... in another car I have.. 98 computer controlled obd11 I have found more power using a wide band o2 sensor for tuning than any trick of the week bolt on, but was not sure how accurate this would be on an " old tech" car will be welding in some o2 bungs in the headers and saving up for the Innovate unit ......have heard good things about it from others as well

Group Buy Anyone ????

Faulkkev ..... been there done that ......waste of money ...like Ryan says not wide band , just a toy .....ask any obd11 guy we all got sucked in to that A/F gauge that hooked to a std 02 sensor even if they convert the mmv to a/f ratio not accurate enough

Ryan ..... good idea re sharing with others maybe I can get some buddies here to share the cost ......although for what this does the price looks real good.

Check out www.thirdgen.org (http://www.thirdgen.org) Lots of guys using the LM-1 over there. Also they have had group buys before, and may being doing another one soon.

The LM-1 is a lifesaver. Saves me soooo much tuning time. Best tool you can buy, next to the hammer. :D

Maybe we can get a group purchase and save a little if the LM-1 is like magic in tunning our hotrod.
