1967 chevelle 283,the alternator belt is just a hair away from the front of the power steering pump,is this correct? Also could anybody tell me where I could see a diagram of the placement of nuts, bolts and washers, for the alternator and power steering pump and brackets. The assembly manual is not giving me all the information I need.

Funny, I just changed belts last weekend and had that problem. Took the pulley off and put washer spacers between the water pump flange and the pulley. All is well now. Can't do you any good on the nuts and bolts, as I don't have factory brackets, but what exactly is the issue there?

Bill,Thanks for the quick reply, the issue is the alternator belt being so close. I'm doing a total frame off, took everything apart, down to the last bolt, lots of ziplocks and notes, now I'm reassembling the whole car, sometimes the manual is unclear, such as I can't believe a washer is not between the front lower pivot bolt of the power steering pump and its bracket,I would have put one there but the assembly manual doesn't show one.

If your reading this now there must be a reason. After walking away from this clearance problem twice I finally got it fixed, correctly. I am a one man operation just like a lot of you guys are,but I will tell you this, every time something is put together easily,or I realize to do step 9 before step 5,or I find that missing bolt,I look up and say "Thank You Lord",and I tell you it seems the more I say it the more help I get. I have to go back out to the garage now,but I know the Master mechanic will be out there with me overseeing the operation.
