I did some searches but I am still wondering, what does it take to install rear air bags in a 68 Chevelle, with a 12 bolt?? The bags I am referring to are the ones that go inside the spring, and help with launching. Does the rear end need to be removed, ect??? Any suggestions on what bags to go with??
Thanks Brian,,,

seems like i put the jack stands under the frame and jack under the rear axle letting it down slowly, with the shock pulled loose from the bottom stud to let the spring go to full extension. then squished the bag flat and slide between the coils. then connected the airline thru the bottom of spring perch on axle and thru the black plastic spacer/puck the airbag rides on. put a little air in to remove wrinkles and rehooked up the shocks. take off jack stands and air up to pressure needed (4-16psi). only need a bag in the right rear, but two come in the Level ride kit so may install both and use staggered pressure from side to side as needed.

What Vince said.

Note: Use a vacuum pump to suck the air out of the bags before installation, it will be a lot easier - the bags are pretty tough. I didn't have to remove shock, just jacked the car up and worked them in.

I have my air lines run from the top, not the bottom - put the air line on first if you go this route.

It can be done with the springs still in the car, but its not as simple as putting jackstands on the frame of the car, then remove the shocks, and with a floor jack under the differential, lower the differential as low as it will go, and the springs can be easily removed, then the bags can easily be installed into the springs. I installed mine, with the valve stems at the bottom of the spring, then run the lines inside the frame rails, to the back of the car, then across to the license plate area. Remove the rubber license plate stoppers on the bumper, then put your valve stems where the rubber stoppers were.

the kit should come with heat shields that attach to your pipes also. The hose clamps that came with my kit weren't the right size but a quick trip to the hardware store solved that. I have to admit I don't like the ride though, still searching for that sweet spot of air pressure. I think it is somewhere between 12-15 pounds. They do work well for what they are designed for.
