I am new to the site and have taken a new interest in Chevelles. I presently own a 1969 big block Camaro and a 1970 Corvette big block roadster. I know this is a long shot but in the 60's I worked at McDonnell Aircraft in St Louis Mo. While there I bought a new 1966 L78 SS396 Chevelle from Francis Chevrolet with VIN 138176A160951 and I also bought a new 1968 L78 SS396 from Johnny Londoff Chevrolet VIN 138378K178940. I still have paperwork on both these cars. Would like to drag one or both back home.

Check with your local DMV: sometimes they will allow you to do title traces, perhaps those old vins will tell you something about where they might be now. Don't be surprised if they tell you "NO" due to the privacy laws. And don't be surprise if you find either car met it's match in the crusher.

Yeah thanks for the reply. I have been that route already and know they are not in the southeast unless sitting in a field somewhere. The 66 was traded on the 68 and remained in St Louis and I now live in Atlanta. Cars were not stolenn just used and abused. The 66 was traded in on the 68 and then moved to Atlanta and traded the 68 for a 70 Monte Carlo with air condition.
