Thats not bad, I've done it twice with my 388 rebuild so far. First I order springs when I have no idea what Im looking for [good bye $50, hello Z28 springs I cant use] and once with my piston rings [bought .030" over, ended up going .060", had to sell at a loss or else get stuck with a 20% restocking fee]

Its all part of the learning process. Now I know exactly how to read specs on springs and what those mean, and I wont order parts until the block is almost ready :D

He, He!! Before I got my copy of DD, I bought a Weiand 8005 dual plane from Summit's Akron Store and an Erson HI-AL AH from Erson by mail for a 475 BB motor using K/B, hyper, .100" over's.

Got the sim. program and the dreaded, "more power, Scottie" bug bit me so I went 496, (NEW ROSS PISTONS),I took the 8005 back, took the 25% restocking fee as a hit AND bought a Strip Dom. and a good old CC 282S solid!!

Live and learn how ta waste money!! IT goes with the hobby......

Robert G.,

If money is real tight and you have a young family (baby). You should consider what many of us have done in the same situation - either park the car and don't touch it for quite a while (possibly years) or sell the car. We have all been through this and there is a time when we face these decisions. It is very tough to do both, but if you read enough of the posts here {and on other car boards}, a lot of us are older and have been though the family raising era. Some may have been fortunate to be able to afford both a family and and expensive car hobby most haven't. It is a tough decision sometimes, but for what its worth, if it comes down to crunch time, don't sacrifice your family for a car!
