wolfehunter Apr 14th, 04, 10:57 AM Chris,
Shot you an email before I read this so I guess this answers my question: "What have you been up to lately?"
I'm working on my front suspension as I wait for my motor to be RE-rebuilt!
Also been helping a friend tear a 429 motor out of his 79 F-250 Extended Cab that he bent a pushrod in. Got it out and now need to get it apart to see if the lifter is out.
Good Luck this weekend at the track! Hope your Hoosiers do the trick! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
SS_Sean Apr 14th, 04, 11:13 AM 1970 Chevelle SS396 (it's never finished)
1978 Malibu Landau bracket racer project
1978 Chevy 3/4 ton truck
The Chevelle is the nicest vehicle I own, now. The malibu is a frame of project. The truck is my daily driver. It's six different colors of primer, and needs some TLC too.
Cameano Apr 14th, 04, 11:32 AM I've got the almost 10 year El Camino project going, which should be running and in paint this year. Then there's my '84 Olds Cutlass Calais which needs paint and a couple of interior items. Yesterday I started on a new front axle for my '79 K10, getting 4.10 gears and a limited slip. Rear 12 bolt getting 4.10's and a lockrite I have in my old 2wd 12 bolt. Conned the guy at the junkyard outta the new front axle for $150. Not that great of a deal, except for the $300 Superlift drag link, the $80 steering arm, and 3" steering block attached to it. :D He usually wants $500 for every axle, but we were dropping of the slant six/904 trans from my friend's '85 Dodge Ram 440/727 swap, so we talked the owner into a semi-swap deal. The K10's getting a 6" lift and some 35" boggers, retiring from daily driving.
Next project will be 4wdb for my friend's '69 455 Firebird, then the 4-speed. He's got all the parts, just waiting patiently. Then it's some bodywork and paint for it.
I've also got an '85 CJ-7 with a 1/4 elliptical rear suspension on the rear, waiting for axles and a 3/4 elliptical shackle reverse setup for the front. I've got a Dana 44 and a 9" to throw under it, just gotta get to it. It's more of an offroad only play toy, doubt it would pass a state safety check with the custom frame and rear suspension.
Still gotta tune the carb on the 440 Ram, friend's startin' to whine about only getting 6.5 mpg. graemlins/clonk.gif :D
ed3196499 Apr 14th, 04, 11:54 AM I have been hussling to get the 64 fixed up for CB04 getting new exhuast friday morning, just finished the 700r4 swap, needs new springs and we should be repaintiing it right before the show,
Also at the same time working on the 68 pro street car, tubbing frame and suspension work, and pulling the 406 back out toget the crank machined for a new key way
also helping get my brothers Monte upand going again. my weekends are booked, but I enjoy the heck out of it
soccerguy045 Apr 14th, 04, 12:45 PM Would love to swap my power train in my Chevelle this summer...put in a 496/Muncie/12-bolt rear...getting insurance money from a previous wreck so we'll see if I get to have these things under my belt before school starts next year or not
knudsonm Apr 14th, 04, 1:28 PM 454 into '90 s-10 Blazer
bodywork on a '90 full size truck saving for Ramjet 502 and 6 speed

onebadd66 Apr 14th, 04, 1:33 PM Could'nt have come at a better time.Just got back my 502 block,and my 468 block/crank,is getting jeolous :D
MY VELLE (http://www.prestage.com/Member+Pages/1201.aspx)
sheetmetal Apr 14th, 04, 1:53 PM 2, and thats 2 two many. 67 hotrod, and a 71 frame up. Dave
wes migletz Apr 14th, 04, 7:47 PM Got my 496 back from the machine shop, installed the cam and heads. Need to finish assembly and install it; changing over from a SB, so I hope I don't run into too many hassles. From there, I need to do the brakes, exhaust, and chase down a battery-drain. Then, it will be ready for my girlfriend to drive for the Summer. She wanted something with more pep than her Tercel. I hope it delivers.
For the 'vette, I'm building a 377 out of the 283. I decided to go with a 4.00" bore and run a turned down 3.75 forged crank with 6.00" rods. The '59 heads were cut for 1.90 and 1.6" valves. The heads are in the process of being fully ported; the porter is predicting some pretty decent flow numbers and I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn-out. I hope to have the new engine up and running by late May (the sooner the better, because the way the current engine smokes is pretty embarassing) with a '68 Z28 intake and a 3310 Holley, and then have the Rochester injection up and running on it by late by late June.
In the meantime, I'm planning to sell or part the Belair. Then, with the proceeds, I'll probably get a 5 spd for the 'vette and a Tri Power for the Chevelle.
The above should keep me busy.
BillsCamino Apr 14th, 04, 8:07 PM I really think it's a sickness...in a good way.
Two different Chevelles in for painting right now. Got motors, trannys, parts, interiors, trim, bumpers, crap scattered in both garages at the house. Actually, just picked up the recovered seats for the '67 today.
Plus, I've found myself accumulating parts for another 383 stroker motor. Don't even have a car to put it in.
Even with all this, I guess I got bored...bought another project last Sunday. ;)
Gonna do a SBF 5.0L in a Miata.
Thad Apr 14th, 04, 8:23 PM 1. The 68 SS-396 is a rolling project,
2. The 72 SS needs paint,
3. The Corvette needs interior door panels, and new weather stripping.
travis g Apr 14th, 04, 8:25 PM I just got my 388 block back from the machine shop today, will be dropping a freshened up 350 in my 3/4 ton tomorrow, and once the engine is back in the nova, I'll be doing a cam swap on the '78 1/2 ton.
70L34 Apr 14th, 04, 8:29 PM Building a 427 for the Camaro, got an old LS5 454 for no real reason, and I still have to put the 406 in my old Caprice! I have way more motors than cars these days.
BlueSS454 Apr 14th, 04, 8:43 PM I have mom's 67 Jaguar and my cousin's 73 Cuda in pieces. I have a 69 Cutlass I am messing around with here and there. My 4 cars that I am always doing something too (the 70, the Bu', my 69 Charger, and my 86 Cutlass).
m71 Apr 14th, 04, 10:31 PM my main project is my 71 malibu, it's been a 17 year constant project. LOL
i also own an 85 S-10 with a 350, an 87 Monte Carlo LS (still stock), a 93 Z28 i occasionally take to the track to play around with (also still stock except for an 80 series Flowmaster), and an 01 Trailblazer. also have an 89 Firebird that i bought for the motor and trans, which i was going to put into an 80 Malibu that i sold 2 days after i bought the Firebird. i need to sell 2 or 3 of them i guess. :D
baddbob71 Apr 14th, 04, 11:10 PM How many motor/car projects do I have going? to many. My Son's Nova tops the list in personal projects- should be firing up the new engine by the end of this month. A 73 Challenger body restoration for a customer almost done, A 69 Big block Camaro on the rotissery for a complete body resto (customer car), My Chevelle that I've been collecting parts for over 5 years now waiting for more funds and time. Put the engine in my brother-in-law's 66 chevy two back together this week, he tore it down two years ago. Just not enough hours in the day it seems lately but they are getting done. Bob
Motor Martyr Apr 15th, 04, 12:03 AM just 1 (not counting work), and thats all i need :D
71chevy0192 Apr 15th, 04, 12:35 AM currently..........1
A 71' malibu with a 333cu in that will probably be receiving N20 later. This puppy has completely drained my funds. I have about $50 to my name right now......and i'm not even kidding. graemlins/clonk.gif :( But it's
smittyocat Apr 15th, 04, 2:36 AM 69 SS396 frame off start date TBD

DutchChevelle1970 Apr 15th, 04, 5:48 AM 2
My 74 Mercedes, it's a rolling project. It needs new paint en some new interior parts.
My '70 Velle. New paint, new dashpad, new door panels, new rear gas shocks, glass induction hood. Then he's finished.
(and i'm considering a body off, and a 383 stroker is on my wish list)
Michael
70ss496 Apr 15th, 04, 10:31 AM Got 3 70 SS Chevelles.
Mine, 70 SS 396 original red/black stripes/red interior, just got the 496 down in it, running really strong, Can't wait to get some track time with it sometime soon. Getting ready to graduate college and have been to busy to work on it. However, my graduation gift from my parents is new interior!!! Really excited just need to paint it after that.
My Dad has two going, One 70 SS 396, original red/black stripes that we blew up a 468 in about 5 years ago or so and have yet to build another motor for it, about the same shape as mine, original paint, etc.
The car we bought last summer(motor money for other car graemlins/clonk.gif ) is a 70 SS 454 LS5 car black/white stripes. Older resto, but a nice driver, we're just redoing things a little at a time, its smoking a little so we'll probably being going through the motor somewhat soon.
And that about sums it up!
Matt
Jonathan Apr 15th, 04, 11:56 AM Here's my list....
1967 Chevelle SS396, but now with a 454 and turbo 400. The original 396 was long gone before I got my hands on the car. Recently running and driving for the first time since I got the car 8 years ago when I was 16. Should be plenty of fun over the summer!
1982 Caprice Classic. Currently running and driving, and has a 267 V-8, but I have a 350 in the garage waiting to go in. Probably this spring/summer it will have the new engine in. Body is in great shape, as well as the interior.
1989 Jeep Wrangler. This one is my daily driver, but the 4.2 engine is getting a little tired, I may pull it and use the Caprice as my daily driver over the summer while I rebuild the Jeep motor (maybe adding fuel injection).
1979 Honda Civic. I got this car from my Grandfather, who bought it new in '79. Only has 51k miles on it. I was planning on making this into a semi-autocross car, but right now I'm working on swapping in a 5-speed to replace the 2-speed semi-automatic. One thing this car has over the Chevelle is the EPA rating of 54 mpg on the highway. Future plans may involve a engine swap using an early 90's Acura motor.
SSx3 Apr 15th, 04, 2:53 PM My current projects:
Gonna start fixing my roof on the 70 (viynl top bubbles) & pull the motor to clean check and freshen if needed along with the engine bay looming and painting etc.
Continue on my recently aquired 88 SS G body its already running a rumbling little SB with a 327/350Hp 222 @ .50 cam. I'm slowing gathering parts for the BB swap, fuel system, cooling, rearend, Ign etc but a 540 with some nice AFR heads would be nice, heck I'd even settle for a set of Rect Canfields.... ya listening Pops <grin>
The trans in the 9C1 is slipping so it needs pulled and gone thru.
The TA is on the back burner for now...
JOEL_TX Apr 15th, 04, 3:18 PM 68SS Chevelle- waiting for 454 to be completed.I keep saying 2wks.Not sure wich 2wks it will be :D
84 Buick Grand National- tore down bottom end to find crank bearing residue everywhere. Oh well, it was only $1500.00 for the car.
70 Chevy LWB Truck- waiting for 396 I took out of the Chevelle to be freshened up before I put it in the truck. Also need some new cab corners welded in.I'm hesitant to attempt this myself.
So that's 3 for now.I'd have more but my roommate has 3 of his own going at the moment, so we are kinda outta yard space now :D
Harold Sutton Apr 15th, 04, 4:20 PM Well GN_Geoff, The AFRs are already pegged for a existing project but when you get to working maybe i could give you the Canfields for about 1/2 of what i've got in them since i'm out of work right now. We'll talk when your ready.
The '67 Chevelle.
Got two Cadillac 500s that have to go into some type of hot rod/street machine as soon as I can manage.
A '69 Triumph chopper that needs a 5spd swapped in for the 4spd it currently has...and tons of other nickel and dime stuff!
And maybe I'll buy a GTO soon. (Dare to dream!)
NYCRAT Apr 15th, 04, 8:49 PM I don't know how you guys manage more than 1. My wife is gonna disown me ( graemlins/hurray.gif )if I continue to live in the garage.
BTW my one is my '70 that I have been assembling and disassembling for the last 10 years.
Andy
First ...trying to get my 69 Camaro up and running with its new AFR headed 408 sbc. Car is really close . Just need radiator, exhaust, bat relocation and a motor break in!
Next is my 72 Jeepster Commando with a 500 caddy bigblock, 35 spline Dana 60's and 39.5" Boggers.
I have had this rig now for about 4 years and is a never ending project.
Last is my Dad's 75 280Z with a Fastburn 385/TH700r4 combo. It is getting rear coilovers and Hotcam/1.6 rocker swap.
#1. My daily driven 71 Chevelle that needs just about everything...paint, interior, disc brakes, rims, etc.
#2. '91 Camaro that was suppose to be my daily driver but now has sat for almost 5 years. Trying to figure out just how I'm going to build it. I'm thinking of going with a GMPP 383 with Fastburn heads putting out 425hp and 460 lb/ft
#3 '95 Burban. It has a 6" ProComp lift, looking to add a 3" body lift and stuff some 38s on it, but before I do that, I need to change the hubs, axels, get it aligned and I'm set ;)
#4 '66 Ghia. I'm letting my dad use it causer I don't have room for it at my house. I told him my lil sister can use it when she gets her license, but once my daughter grows up (she's 2 1/2) it's coming back to her ;) Ghia needs to be repainted black, interior touched up, looking to build a 1776cc or something bigger ;) . Once the motor is built it's gonna need a beefier tranny.
#5 '65 Mustang. It currently has a lil 6 banger in it. I'm either gonna let my lil brother use it when he gets his license or sell it to buy him something he wants. If we keep it, I'm gonna have to yank the interior, fix all the rust slap in some new metal, fix the rustes out cowls allow the water to leak in. Then yank the suspension, slap in a 9" out back, adapt the front end for a V8, and throw in either a 331ci, 347ci, 393ci, or go with an all out 460ci. After that, paint and interior, rims, tires and she's set! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
#6 and last but definatly not least my '02 Stang. Looking to put either an SLP Loud Mouth exhaust, Magna Flow, or maybe Spin Techs...full system with X-pipe, and high flow cats. Along with that, trying to decide which cold air intake to get for it....soo many, hard to choose from. And maybe in the future, swap the wimpy plastic intake for either a bullet or equivalent intake, mid-lenght headers, and 3.73s or 4.10s out back. Looks like I got my work cut out for me ;) . Not bad considring I just turned 25, married, have a daughter and we have our own house, and I'm about 50Gs in the hole. Sure my rent is under 1G a month, which is pretty cheap for a 2 bedroom house in L.A., but I'm also planning on buying my first house. Good luck to all the others with their projects, and I hope those of you who are looking to start off in this hobby have every bit of fun and more that we all are having. graemlins/beers.gif
66rat Apr 17th, 04, 6:40 AM Project #1: 66 Chevelle, race car, has full cage and round tube back half, ladder bars, 9" ford, 14.5 x 32 slicks, 475 cid and clutch turbo trans, glass front end, lexan, needs paint (body work is done) and final assembly.

Cable Apr 17th, 04, 1:00 PM Let's see:
-I have my '86 K5 Blazer 4x4 that I always toy with. Its getting a mild 383 stroker.
-Just bought a '75 280z with the intent of shoehorning a 427 BBC/TH400 under the hood.
-Then there's my wife's '91 Caprice that I want to tub when she's done with it.
Not too bad a list, I guess.....
feedphillipnow Apr 17th, 04, 1:33 PM Well I've got the one main project on my 71' Chevelle. But it has it's many projects going. I still want to finish building my go-kart, I welded up a frame for it, no engine or steering in yet, Let me see!

**Put in better speakers
**Weld in New trunk floor (last of the rust)
**Finishing the body prep for primer/paint
**PPG (Not sure on color, blue/ silver)
**496 Build up w/ 5 speed conversion :D $$

Scott_68_SS Apr 18th, 04, 11:21 AM Lets see, not in any particular order:
69 Camaro- Complete (all) interior and paint dash,Upgrade fuel line/install fuel return line, get bigger E fuel pump and make new mount, bend up new/different dual feed carb lines and get flares on ends, Find bearings and rebuild my 700mi Edelbroke water pump that's weeping a little, may swap to Evans coolant since it pings at 175*, usually runs 165* until I get on it, Continue learning GM EFI program language for my EFI project, test my ECM's, Map out my mech. and vac advance in current MSD dist for EFI table programing, go to pick a part and get a harness, then make it fit my car, waiting on above to buy complete EFI intake set, buy planetaries, converter and drive shaft & assemble trans for my 700r4 project, switch to 3.42 gears at sometime..
Get around to making Caltracs, get some ET streets or D radials and go to track for very first time ever.. at least I can drive it.
68 EC- Waiting on Diamond pistons needed to get good CR w/my 122cc 781's,test fit everything, get balanced, get longer valves for new springs & have fitted, assemble heads w/lite springs, decide on oil pan and buy, Assemble engine and run in on stand, install stiff springs, Upgrade fuel system same as camaro except maybe 172gph mech, go through brakes, clean & paint engine compartment, fit 3" exh kit, finish rear end rebuild, clearance cheapo PST upper rear control arms to fit, buy new tires..
Paint EC and repaint Camaro, keep saying next spring or fall, still waiting them to get here..
Not to mention the honey do, and all the side jobs and overtime to pay for a lot of it. Nevermind what doesn't fit right..
