: What aftermarket intakes work with divorced chokes?
Junkyard Dawg Nov 26th, 07, 5:16 PM I have a Q jet I want to use that came with a divorced choke. I see most aftermarket intakes have a provision for a hot air choke, but will a divorced choke work with it?
I.E. would a Edelbrock 2101 intake accept a divorced choke Q jet? Or are they geared towards hot air chokes?

Tom Mobley Nov 26th, 07, 7:30 PM look at the pics available at the manufacturers site. If it's meant to be used with a divorced choke there will be an exhaust heat crossover and machined flat pad for mounting the choke stove. In any case you'll probably have to make or modify the rod, they have no idea how thick the gasket you're using is.
novaderrik Nov 26th, 07, 8:08 PM if you are asking about a small block, then the Edelbrock 2101 will work with a divorced choke. the manifold is cast for the later model hot air choke, but it comes with an adapter to use a divorced choke, as well.
i have that little adapter somewhere out in my car parts pile, and you can buy it from Edelbrock for not very much money.
Junkyard Dawg Nov 27th, 07, 12:18 AM I took a look at the 2101 intake, didn't look like anything other than a hot air choke would work with it....
Tom Mobley Nov 27th, 07, 2:24 AM as pointed out by Derrick, there's a little gizmo that bolts on to the hot air port, it provides a flat machined spot for the choke stove.
Rich-L79 Nov 27th, 07, 10:16 AM The Edelbrock Performer RPM Q-Jet, #7104, is set up for the Q-Jet and a divorced choke. You'll need to buy or make a new choke rod since the manifold is taller than a stock manifold thus lengthening the distance from the choke coil and the carb. This is a great manifold and noticeably perked up my basically stock sb400 in my truck.

I take it this is the little metal plate that's held on by two allen screws? Looks more like a block off to me. Perhaps the choke sits on this?:

Sorry I am confused. Thanks though for the clear up. :)
onovakind67 Nov 27th, 07, 11:40 AM I just epoxied a choke stove to the top of my Performer RPM near the stock location and it worked just fine.
kettbo Nov 27th, 07, 3:47 PM ON the SBC #2101 Perf intake, the cover plate for the hot air choke comes with the intake, #8901 is the part number just for reference. The Eddy remote choke kit #1931 has one peg to drop in the plate's hole and one screw.
I still have adjustments to make here, bend the rod etc...."too much" choke....
