You mean 70. If its real I say 60-70. It needs more numbers and pics to nail it for sure.

Dang. I just realized that I botched the title to this thread. I had it labeled as a 72 Chevelle when it is a 70.

(I started another thread about a 70 Chevelle that I also miss-labeled as a 72. Doh! It must be Monday).

Wow. 60-70K. That's more than I would have imagined. I was thinking 55 - 57K tops.

I would want to see the underside of it, he's not showing you anything, and when they don't show it, or don't show it very good, usually theres a reason, but I'm guessing here.

It might be real nice, but ask for clear close ups of a couple of the floorpan supports, and up around the underside of the trunk.

Don't let those numbers and paint distract you.

For that kind of money I'd have to consider it.Only problem is I promised the orignal owner first crack at it if I ever sold it.

Just because I think it might be worth that much doesn't mean I'm willing to part with that much mollah. :P

I always enjoy the ad that states "underhood is detailed to perfection". Then I look at it and I find a few things wrong with just a glance. If they state it is perfect, then it should be perfect. Otherwise, just state it is clean or detailed.

I agree with a previous post, the undercarriage isn't pictured, probably for a reason. It looks like, from the pic of the bottom of the engine area, most of the stuff has been painted over with black.

Also, if this is a legit LS5, it must be one of the first produced by Arlington with that low VIN.

I am waiting for some info from the seller before I guess a price.

My 70 LS-5 That I ordered has a lot of different parts under the hood.
The fan blade is not a 772 with curved tips--My master Cyl. has bleeders on the side--Alt. brkt has no hole in the center--Rad top plate, should have welded tab on right corner--LS-5s have the long cannister fuel pump--Must be a late build date WHY? It has 71-72 A/C brackets on the compressor.--Vacuum canister for A/C has a broken mounting bracket, It is being held on with some kind of a worm clamp. I also like the gold paint on the master cyl. and booster. Is the rear end a 396 or a 454 rear end? No underside pictures?
I would question some items. I like the car --BUT --It is missing a lot of " 70 " SS 454 Parts!!!!!!

One of my pet peeves. Painting over hardware that's too bothersome to replace, painting over an already assembled car covering hardware, sway bar, mounting brackets, steering box etc.

Lazy man's spray can restoration.

The A-arm cup washers being painted over are the worst example of that. It would take literally 10 minutes, and maybe $5 to correct all the while missing a very nice contrasting detail in your bay.

It even appears to be missing the A-Arm dust shields which offers another nice missed contrasting detail with the staples.

That's really not too much to expect, from a "perfectly detailed underhood" compartment.

If anyone can get detailed photos of the undercarraige from the seller, I will take wagers that the fuel and brake lines are black....

Any takers? :noway:

A very important item that is missing is the the water " Shut Off " valve. It should be mounted on the right inner fender. When the A/C is turned on a Vacuum line to the valve " Shuts off the hot water to the heater ".
71-72 A/C systems are different than 70s. Also the 70 A/C harness is a stand alone harness and it is also different than a 71-72 harness.
I want to know how well the A/C works AFTER the engine is warm???
Not wanting to cause any problems, But this LS-5 is a hellava lot different than my Black (one owner)LS-5, My 1970- LS-5 Red Station Wagon (driver) has a lot more under hood detail than this car.
Numbers matching with buildsheet--BULLSHIP !!!!

...or maybe he's psychic and knows everything you are thinking and this is his evil plan to sell you his car.

It must be one of the first LS5 chevelles built in Arlington. I asked him what date was it built. He said the trim tag has 01A. Also, he said the engine pad has a T1217 CRQ. But he didn't show what the VIN (if any) was on the pad.

Does anyone know when the LS5 cars were started at Arlington?

Then he needs to use some of his special powers to make more money appear in my wallet. Because that's more money than I want to spend.

The auction ended with the highest bid at $46,100.00. Well below the guys buy-it-now amount of $55,000.

I've noticed that most eBay auctions for muscle cars end this way. I don't know if people are asking way too much for their cars, or does the bad economy stop people from buying high-end toys?

This is just my opinion but I think most high dollar cars on Ebay are there for the exposure/advertising and actually sell off Ebay and that is what most sellers are expecting. Ebay loses their $40 on those deals.

Do you think the seller normally contacts the high bidder after the auction ends and wraps up the deal?

At least we know it is possible, based on Levon's car.

It could be initated from both sides since once a bidder and seller have made contact, there could be emails exchanged outside of Ebay. I don't think there are a lot of folks willing to throw down $50K+ on a car without a physical inspection. A 7 or 10 day auction really is not enough time to usually set up something like that long distance wise. Heck my buddy sold a blazer to a guy who had bid on it on Ebay (did not meet reserve) and the final sale transaction was handled in person after verfication of condition of the truck and the was for around $10k.

I have emailed a few eBay sellers after auctions end. Sometimes they don't even reply. Sometimes they do.

I guess everyone that lists a car there has there own agenda.
