Well all,

As you may or may not know, I am dis-assembling my 64 chevelle in preperation for media blasting. Everything is going along as planned with not a ton of surprises.

I actually got under the car to really look at it for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised that all braces are in factory condition with very little rust if any. The floors are in need of a center patch each but the pan is about 75% in tact so I figure a nice butt-welded patch will be good.

We took the front clip off and found some writing on the left cowl. I assume they are inspection on the line.

Here are a couple of pics.

I am hoping to find a build sheet on top of the tank as it seems that this car is pretty much unmolested. It is a low option car, no power brakes, no power steering, AM radio, 2 SP PG but with a 283 / 2bbl.

I am interested in its history, and also am torn about how to proceed. Should I worry about preserving these markings? I doubt I will restore to original as someone filled the beltline trim holes all the way down the body.

I want to paint it pearl white with a red interior and TT II rims. Just a nice resto rod with a bit of updating.

Thoughts?

You guys rule!

-Take alot of pictures. Put any small parts in see through bags, label them and hang them on the wall. I have gone through this with a frame off my 65/SS convertible. That is why the other 65/SS hardtop I own was purchased 80% done.
-IMO loose the PG and get a 4-speed. No offense but the history of this type vehicle is not critical (document with pictures only).

Since I don't know what the markings mean, I'd do whatever it takes to put the car in the condition I want, and not worry about them. Just my 02.

Well all....Tonight I took out the guts of the left side doors and rear windows. Tomorrow night is the right side. The regulators were pretty easy to get out once I figured out the order in which to take stuff apart. Hopefully in the next week or so, the dash wiring and dash cluster and pad will come out. Then the tank and all the pedals and stuff under the dash. Motor and tranny and then off to the blaster.

I am doing a frame on resto as it will be a driver and I am limited, but the body guy does an awesome job at sand blasting even with the car on the frame. You cant even tell the car wasn't off the frame.

I will post pics on http://www.my64chevelle.com tomorrow.
