Except for the obvious (damper, casting or stamping numbers) what, if any, are the external differences between a 1965-283 c.i. and a 1965-327 c.i. SHORTBLOCK. :clonk:

The casting # off the block is a quick way to tell.

what he said ^ i dont think there is any other than the casting numbers all a 327 is is a bored and stroked 283, and the 327 was known for giving the 302 its life by installing a 283 crank in a 327 block making the 302 get it then a 327 stroked version was introduced in 1967 giving the 350:thumbsup:

shape of the flywheel flange on the crankshaft,
i think the 283-flange is round and 327-flange has a small ear
