Do the 1-800-BE-PETTY thing out at the raceway. Kinda pricey....but worth it.

Mike,

It's warm during the day, but you'll want a long sleeve shirt at night. Can't think of anything in particular going on in town right now, especially during the week. Our last open night of the year at the track is Friday, but that isn't going to do you any good.

When do you arrive Monday and depart Thursday? Which hotel are you staying at?

Not to come off like a third wheel on your anniversary, but, if at all possible, I try to meet up with any TCer's that happen through town, if schedules permit. Whether that be for a quick cocktail or as high speed airport transportation (how many 750+hp cabs have you ridden in), which could be a possibility on Thursday.

I'm currently in the middle of a 9 day German fashion shoot that will have me out of town (within 60 miles) on Monday and again on Tuesday. Their all staying at Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladdin), so I'm there about 5:30am to pick them up, and again around 7pm to drop them off. (except yesterday, which was a night shoot 3:30pm until 5am this morning). Wednesday is the last day with them, originally we were booked at Pure nightclub at Caesers Palace, now I don't know where we'll end up. Supposedly they're looking to shoot on a strip hotel roof top.

I'll PM and/or email my cel #, feel free to call anytime. Service may be a little sketchy for me Mon and Tues during the day, leave a voice message and I'll get back to you.

Got your PM Rowdy I'll be checking with you our flight is at 0600 Thur.so don't worry about that. It would be great to meet you. We will be staying down town at the Golden Nugget, Aloha Mike:thumbsup:

Downtown is closer to my house. What time do you arrive tomorrow?

Call me with your cel #, we can get together on any one of the evenings after I get off work. Once the sun goes down, the shoot is done. Then it's just a matter of how long it takes to drop them off at their hotel and get back home. Probably by 7pm at the latest.

I'll take you and the wife for a cruise down the strip. It's pretty crowded with pedestrian traffic, regardless of what day of the week it is. The Chevelle gets a good deal of attention, just from the noise alone. A strategic blip of the throttle sends those oblivious to it's presence, scrambling on the sidewalk. It's hilarious.

We leave Hawaii late afternoon get in about midnight LV time. We are used to 80* weather so what have the temps been the computer says 60's day time and 30's at night and my wife would like to know if it is windy at all, you know wind chill factor. She's packing like we are going to the Arctic circle:p

If you're interested in a show, see the Beatles Love show at the Mirage. Best show I have ever seen, bar none! Seats are expensive and hard to get; however, IMHO it's almost a once in a lifetime experience. Beatles music is good however; the live special effects and non-stop action are unique! It's expensive; we paid $137 per seat; however, for this unique experience, it's worth it.

I picked Mike and Maria up at the airport a little after midnight, drove them for a few blocks down the strip and took the freeway the rest of the way.

Tonite was the first time that I have driven it since getting back from Tucson. Man, sounds like driving for five hours at 3500-4000 rpm has rattled just about every screw loose. The roar must have baked my eardrums, because I sure as heck don't remember hearing all the rattling on the way home. Time to go through and tighten things up, from the instrument bezel to the flag emblems on the front fenders.... and everything in between.

Nice to hear from ya. Maybe we've been hanging out in different playgrounds, but I haven't seen much of you on TC.

How's the car? Finally done with all the hoopla?

Most overated burger joint on the face of the planet and THE WORST DAMN FRIES on top of it.

Im a burger affecianado, one of my all time favorite foods, have had them from SF to NY and In-N-Out burger shouldnt be referred to as a burger joint any more than friggin McDonalds.

Sorry, ramble, I hate that place because their food just sucks and I could kill a cow and prep it myself and cook the damn thing before you could get "in-n-out" of in-n-out burger.

Have a good time in Vegas Aukai! Cool place

Have fun! Be sure to check out the Pink Taco restaurant in the Hard Rock Casino....last time we went, that was probably the best food we had. Also, check out Freemont street and the Madame Tussauds wax museum in the Venetian. If you get tired of the casinos, rent some ATVs and go to Nellis sand dunes or Valley of Fire....that is a lot of fun!

Veronica,
Good suggestion, I'll call him and see if he wants to head out into the desert. Kinda windy today though. Got a free pass from work today, as our location was changed to the roof of Planet Hollywood (51st floor). A little hard to get the motorhome up there.

If Mike and Maria are up for it, we can take both of the 750 Brute Forces and the 800 CanAm, along with a cache of weapons for a real wild west Wednesday. Probably go to Armagossa(sp) Dunes though. Real Dunes, a bit smaller than Dumont, but still in Nevada, so we can take our guns too. It depends on their time and desires, Armagossa is 95 miles, Nellis 20 and Dumont 110. Again, the wind could put the Kabash on the whole thing.

Hope they have health insurance.

Hey Rowdy,
Have you ever been to that Viva Las Vegas pre-63 car show? http://www.vivalasvegas.net/

I never have, but I am going to try to make it this year to spectate. It looks pretty fun

No I haven't.

There is another annual Rock-a-Billy event at LVMS (Speedway), haven't been to it either. Not that I am turned off by the genre, just haven't had the opportunity. Everytime that I have considered going, schedules conflicted.

I don't believe the the event at the Speedway is nearly as "anal" as the "Viva" event appears to be (per the link provided above). My impression was that it was more along the "Rat Rod" crowd.

Yeah from what I've seen it is almost entirely the rat rod crowd....but that's ok...rat rods are cool too. I am really just looking for an "excuse" to go back to Vegas :p

Well we are home from Vegas and I WAS BLIND SIDED, it turned into a big shopping trip. I HATE SHOPPING at least 11 hrs, 2 days reduced to being a pack animal. I did buy new Bose 252's to replace my old 151's for the boat. 5 hrs in an outdoor mall at 50* + did I mention I hate shopping? I would do it again in a heart beat to meet Rowdy again. He drives like he has diplomatic immunity (just for us I'm sure) and I bet he has a connection to an oil refinery pipeline in his back yard (but don't tell anyone) . My 454 is my first big block and I will never go back to a small block I had C&A aluminum rods new pistons in the box and gave them to a good friend. Now that I have driven with Rowdy and a Mike Lewis 540 my 454 is too small. That machine flat hauls the mail no doubt and can be driven every day. From merging speed to leaving them standing still on the freeway in a heart beat my wife screamed and then did her hehehehe do it again thing (that is only used on special occasions). It was very special to me I can't thank Rowdy enough for taking the time for out of towner's and making us feel at home and special. Thanks Rowdy. When we got home and left the airport I stomped on her SS Monte Carlo and she looked at me and said "yeah right". I have big shoes to fill now. I will post more tomorrow at work time to eat dinner. Rowdy for President!!!!

Sounds like that platform works for you too.

I'm still wondering, have all your commitments to Optima been fullfilled? How was that experience? I'm sure totally worth it in the car department, just wondering about how they handled other obligations.

Also curious as to the workmanship overall. I'm sure there are the fair share of incidental glitches here and there. I want to know:
How dependable it is?
How street friendly?
How it performs?
Up to your expectations?

Those kind of things.

If you like snow, go to the Charleston Inn on the mountain. You can get directions from the locals. I found it totally awesome going from upper 60 degree temps at Vegas ground level to being in 3-foot snow drifts and putting my coat on within 45 minutes from leaving the warm Vegas Strip area. We stayed for a week and this was my favorite day.

Sounds like you had fun aukai. When I went to Vegas last summer, I stayed for 4 days, only got 10 hrs of sleep and came home with a 5 day hangover. I still had money in my pocket when I landed so that made it better.

It's pretty much an open invitation. There are over a dozen TC members that have been privy to the "sphincter palate" experience.

As schedule permits, of course. If work doesn't have me completely absent, time can usually be found for a get together, although sometimes only for a moment. But that's all it takes, to leave an impression (and a 24 hour grin, well if you manage to keep your skivvy's clean), just ask anybody.

While Mike and Maria were in town, I was working for a German fashion magazine. I took some of the crew (French & Germans) for joy rides. Needless to say, it blew their minds. Maybe it's because the word, adrenaline, doesn't translate so well, but their description for the rush was, "It's sooo fast, your heart beats like your a millimeter from being killed, but you can't stop smiling. It's like a roller coaster". I told them that's because they really were only a "millimeter" from death.................. and so was everybody else around us.

Rowdy I'd like to take you up on the offer if we make it there in April , and your work schedule allows it.
I dought my better half would want to go, she freaks out if I even tap the gas in mine (baby 454), so I know she would not enjoy yours .

aukai
Dec 1st, 07, 5:29 PM
My wife freaks when I hit the gas also but she was smiling when Rowdy was driving (after she screamed) it all happens soooo fast. If I can't get deals on a Dart block I may stretch my 454 to a Wolfplace 489 or 496.

Rowdy
Dec 1st, 07, 6:26 PM
You can stretch your 454 block to 496 (454+.060=4.31 bore X 4.25 stroke=496). Plenty of TCer's are making big power with 496's. The Dart Big M is 4.5 bore out of the crate. It has .125 of additional bore left in it.

Shaun,
It's a deal. If I pick you up from the airport, the ole lady doesn't have much of a choice (unless you happen to be wearing the skirt.....you're not Scottish, are you?).

Maria was quite quiet in the back seat...... except that one time between my house and the hotel.... when we hit that black ice;););) For a moment, we were perpendicular to traffic, I think she sucked all the oxygen out of the passenger compartment.
