fired up the 468 bbc today on the race car. what a very nice sound with open headers. sounds even nastier then before.....

i made some changes to the engine for hopes of deeper 10's on the motor.

bought me a tunnel ram (weiand) and two matching 600 holleys......i paid 216 bucks to my door for this set up.....

went thru the carbs (very nice newer carbs) found problems from the previous owner had. fixed all the setting and set them up.....

did some minor grinding on the tunnel ram......yes a hei unit does fit behind one...lol

took off the old small tubed headers and put a better set of 2" super comp headers (paid 40 bucks) on.

took the heads off and did some chamber smoothing and dome smoothing. did a little more grinding to open up around the valves.

installed some copper head gasket to reduce some compression. dropped it from 14.5 - 14.92 to a lower 13.57 to 13.9 compression varies some because of deck height and some chamber differences in cc's.

took the stock water pump off and put on a used weiand electric pump....(25 bucks swap meet)

installed a electric fan from a 2.5 motor (free)

lowered the alt on the drivers side ( free) made my own top bracket (cut the back side off a sbc alt. top bracket) and flipped it around off the water pump. and used a motor mount bolt screwed to the block with a nice spacer.

put a fuel cell up front and mounted the electric fuel pump near the stock location of the manual pump on the frame.

bent all my hard lines to the tunnel ram.

it fired up . reved it a few times and it just idles reall nice. jazzed the throttle a few times no dead spot and reved real good. i think its even got alittle more throttle response then what it did with the victor jr and 850 dp.

took out the 4.56 rear end replaced with another 4.10 rear end.

talk about backwards....i should be working out the chassis and traction issues i had instead of trying to make more power.....lol

moving on to the roll bar in a few weeks and strip more interior parts.

im thinking i might need to go to ladder bars........i have a lot weight up front.

film and pics from my launches shows my car to look like a 4x4 off the line.....the rear end extends up as the whole car. with 28" tires on the back you can double stack your fists on top off the rear tire before you touch the wheel wheel. if you was to power brake the car so to speak the whole car rises about 8 to 9 " straight up.

this has worked for a lot years but with this power level it has become harder to hook....
