I know ive been asking a bunch of questions on here, trying to learn as much as possible from you guys. One thing im trying to decide is just how much head work is necessary for a street motor. One guys says just get them smoothed out. My machine shop guy swears by the porting, says thats where to make the power. My options range from 100 bucks for just a polish job up to 500-700 bucks for a full port job. Planning a fairly big cam, with a tunnel ram. and 10.5 comp Any thoughts?

Anthony,it all depends on what you want but you cant expect the most power for your buck from a $100 port job vs a $700 port job on a tunnel ram'd motor.
It would seem like since your running a tunnel ram your looking for a hot setup so if you could find the money to do it i would definately opt for the full port job for better breathing capabilities. The more air you can get in/out of the motor the more power potential you will have if setup properly.
Now if you were running a stock q-jet & intake with stock exhaust manifolds etc i would opt for the light ($100) pocket porting because the rest of the motor pkg would not support the more expensive better flowing port work.

Thanks scott, kinda figured it would be best to go with the bigger job with the tunnel ram. just needed some confirmation on the benifit. thanks
