Got my 71 out to the track finally...even with a posi (3.23) it spun all the way through first...and after learning to feather the throttle a little, got it down to this....

My 60' was 2.43 with a posi and street tires. Car went 14.57 at 92. 0-60 is about 5.85
I guess thats not too bad considering not hooking up and running a fairly mild 350. Was looking for high 13's though....oh well...let the tuning begin!
Suspension questions is about traction bars, in short...aside from better shocks...what traction bars would help my car hook up the best...These are what Ive been looking at so far....

Car weights in around 3550 last time I checked. I know theres alot more to check like the pinion angle and such....but for now...are any of these better than the others?

Looking for some educated opinions please....and thanks!

You're probably going to find that a set of boxed control arms will work just fine. Most of the traction problems you're having are due to worn rubber control arm bushings on stamped steel arms that flex. Eliminate that flex, plant the tires. Adjustable uppers can be used to set your pinion angle precisely where you want it, too.

I use the Jegster lift bars and some good tires. If you want to get consistent ET's then you have to invest in some good tires. You'll be surprised at how many people put high horsepower motors into cars and won't invest in tires to make it hook. You can make all of the power your wallet will allow but without the ability to plant it it's useless and just looks pathetic (IMHO) at the track. Also since my BBC was blown a couple of years ago I installed a slightly warmed over near stock 350 I had around as a spare. Even without proper tuning the worst 60' I had was a 2.0. With my MT et streets and my Jegster bars. If necessary buy some cheap rims and install track tires on them.

At this point there is not a reason in the world to add adjustable anything to your car. Replace everything thats worn out in the rear suspension buy some quality tires and then see where you are.

yeah, thats a given..new bushings for the upper and lower. Im just curious though, is there any advantage with those "jegster lift bars" that replace the lower control arms over the Lakewood "traction action" lift bars with the adjustable link? I was told the ones that replace the lower control arms are better because the relocate the "Instant center" or something. Im guessing the Lakewoods dont do this, as your still using the stock lower control arm?

For stock or mildly modified cars a rebuild of suspension and some boxed lower control arms are a good start. I have rear tubular upper NON-adjustable and rear tubular lower control arms. I run a rear 1" sway bar and this is a good set-up from stock to even 10 second cars. A good set of tires goes along way aswell.... My springs were stock and shocks were KYB's. Good enough to run mid-low 12's and its not a drag suspension set-up at all.

Did you drop your tire pressure? I drop mine down to about 15psi.

I run the lakewood traction-action bars and Moroso rear coils. Other than that my rear suspension is stock, hers my launch pic with a 1.63 60 ft and 11.63 @ 115.

Dave, nice launch!!!!!

Make SURE the bolts in the rear bushings ( all of them) are not siezed up. If they are tight you can get awful wheel hop as well

damn, nice shot.
So, what kind of 60' should I expect (when will I know im doing good for my combo?)
Any chance I'll see a 13 second run out of this motor with a good launch?

3.73's will make alot of difference,,,1.8 60 fts no problem with your combination with a set of sticky tires.
