Hello:
What would be a maximum safe overbore of this Block?
What would be a good target for a remaining wall thickness after bore?
Thank you

Safe is a very subjective term :D
Have it sonic tested.
Most will go 125
To have +.250 left on the thrust would be a gift from the car Gods
.160 is about as low as I want to see on the thrust side of any performance engine but have run less with varied results.
Actually I would like a minimum of .160 on both skirt walls & no less than half that front to rear.

By chance do you know a mfg of a good Sonic tester? A Thickness gauge that will do radiuses as well.

If you are just trying to make the biggest overbore you can I would suggest finding a different block. The 512 blocks are getting to valuable to do that to.

The 3963512 I am looking at to buy is of course out of state and currently covered with dirty grease and at .060 overbore. The seller is not able to send to a local machine shop as to magnafluxed and check bore for sleeves ect. I am seeking info to see if at .060 a person can bore beyond that value. Maximum overbore and sleeves is exactly what I want to avoid. It will be a high risk purchase being engine is sight unseen.

This is what I use but it is not something you want to buy unless you plan on doing a number of blocks
It is almost mandatory for me though to do what I do,,,

I have known the owner of this company since he went off on his own from another place that built these mostly for industrial applications
He is super people & has outstanding customer service
When he first designed his new gauges about 15 or so years ago he actually came up to my shop & we spent the day going over a bunch of old blocks while he tweaked the software on his gauge to rid it of a few bugs
They have only gotten better with time ;)
Good people, take some time to check out some of his other stuff like the ultrasonic bolt stretch gauge
Very cool stuff,,,,,
