I think I have got it figured out. Current street tire is a 245 60 R15 (26.55 tall) and running 3.70 gear. That calcs out to 3049 rpm at 65 MPH. From my driving habits / very little freeway travel that RPM is OK by me.
I am installing a 4.11 gear to make better use of my 30" tall radial slicks at the track.........
Going to change the rear street rubber for a pair of 255 70 R15 (28.95 tall), with the 4.11 gear at 65 MPH it calcs out to 3095 RPM.
This is only a 50 RPM "up" change from the 3.70's to 4.11's by going to the taller tire.
I also think my car would be less prone to wheel hop running a taller tire, and I think it would also fill the wheel well, look better.
Every thing is a compromise with a strip / street ride. Finding the right balance is a challenge.
What are you street / strip guys running on and off the track with your rides?
