I think I have got it figured out. Current street tire is a 245 60 R15 (26.55 tall) and running 3.70 gear. That calcs out to 3049 rpm at 65 MPH. From my driving habits / very little freeway travel that RPM is OK by me.

I am installing a 4.11 gear to make better use of my 30" tall radial slicks at the track.........

Going to change the rear street rubber for a pair of 255 70 R15 (28.95 tall), with the 4.11 gear at 65 MPH it calcs out to 3095 RPM.

This is only a 50 RPM "up" change from the 3.70's to 4.11's by going to the taller tire.

I also think my car would be less prone to wheel hop running a taller tire, and I think it would also fill the wheel well, look better.

Every thing is a compromise with a strip / street ride. Finding the right balance is a challenge.

What are you street / strip guys running on and off the track with your rides?

I've run 28x9x15 slicks,28x10.5x15 slicks,275/60/15 drag radials and I am going to give radial slicks a shot this time although they are taller 30x9x15 mounted on 15x8 draglites with 3.73 gears. I'm hoping to improve on my best ever 60time of 1.64 and the new bullet goes a long way in improving that :D

You can probably fit a 285-70/15 in there on a 5.5"BS 10" wheel. Know a guy local has two cars set up that way '66 Chevelle and '67 GTO.

For running around on the street I use M/T 29x12.5 Sportsman Pro's.

For any strip time 28x12.5 M/T ET Streets.

Both are mounted on Weld 15x10 (5.5 bs) Draglites.

I running a 4.30 gear with a Super T-10. Cruising on the interstate (65mph) with the Sportsman Pro's, I'm turning about 3200 rpm.
