Is it ok if I just hit them with a wire brush and be done with it? They only have flash rust from sitting a year, no pits or anything major. Any suggestions?

Just drive it and make a few hard stops, it'll come right off. Usually after 100 miles or so you can't even tell it anymore. We see it all the time on new cars that set on the lot waiting to be sold.
