Hello !
As soon as I seen your post , I had to reply and say DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT ! Trust me , you will NOT be happy at all with the grille and eyebrow moldings supplied in the kit ! OPG , Year One , Ground Up , Ausleys Chevelles , NPD , and every other Chevelle resto companies gets these parts from the SAME manufacturer made in China ! They are JUNK and will NOT fit .... NOT EVEN CLOSE ! They are NOT even good for a driver or race only 66 Chevelle ! They all know that they do not fit , and an honest sales person , at any of the mentioned companies , will tell you this .
Heres my experience ....
I was also going to order that same kit from Ausleys Chevelles . But I got lucky and came across an older fella who had all these parts in his basement , ( and they are original GM never used ) , except for the grille and right eyebrow molding . So I ordered the grille and eyebrow molding kit from Ausleys. The eyebrow moldings looked like a 5 year old kid molded them , and the grille looked nice untill I tried to fit it onto my 66 Chevelle ..... What a mess ! Since original NOS moldings and chrome trim is hard to come by , 80% of the ***** on my Chevelle is aftermarket stuff . As I am sure you already know , with some tweeking , trimming , stretching , and bending , you can get most of the aftermarket stuff to fit and look nice . So expecting to play around with the eyebrow moldings and grille from Ausleys to make them fit properly was not going to be any supprise to me . But these parts were just way to distorted to make fit properly AND look nice at the same time ! So I sent them back to Ausleys . I decided to try my luck with Year One .... Same exact results and they were sent back ! Then I tried OPG , then Ground Up , then Big Tony's Chevelle parts .. All were the same exact way and got sent back ! By this time , the Super Chevy show was in my neck of the woods at Maple Grove raceway in PA ( this past summer 2007 ) . So I went , as usual , to try to find a clean original grille and right eyebrow molding from a used vendor ... But I had no such luck .
Since 99% of the Chevelle parts I have been buying over the last 13 years has been through Ausleys Chevelles , I decided to make my usual trip to their tent and shoot the ***** with the guys there and explain to them my on-going situation . They came out right and told me that ALL the companies , ( such as the ones I mentioned in this post ) , buy their grilles and eyebrow moldings for the 66 Chevelles from the same supplier in China , and that NO customer has ever been happy with them and they usually get returned . He went on to tell me that Ausleys is in the process of molding and perfecting their own , and actually test fit them onto their employees cars , but haven't mastered it yet for the 66 , ( they have for 67 though , which is totally different ) .
I found a nice looking original grille on Ebay that was located in Canada . After emailing with the seller a few times , I placed my bid and won the auction for $155 . When I got it , it looked nothing like the pictures and what he wrote me in emails . So needless to say , I was dissappointed with its condition , however it did fit . I then tracked down and bought 2 other original grilles in the PA and NJ area for a combined price of $225 , but they were also far from perfect , but again , since they were original , they at least fit perfectly . I ended up taking the now 3 used ones that I bought as well as my original grille , and my original right eyebrow molding , to a local Plating and Chrome Restoration company in Philly to see what they could do with them . Between the fella at the Plating shop and myself , we picked out the 1 ( of the 4 grilles ) that we both agreed would turn out the nicest , ( which turned out to be the ORIGINAL grille to my Chevelle , lol ) . So being promised a 3-4 week turn around time , I left the grille and eyebrow molding there to get restored . To make a very long story a little shorter , I finally got my parts back ...... 3 months and $260 later . They did a very nice job on them and I was happy . But from their methods , all the black paint was gone . Since I am not trying to clone a Super Sport , and prefer the Malibu look over the SS looking grille, I wanted to respray the vertical bars black again . It took me 6 hours to tape off the horizontal bars to spary the vertical bars black . I let it fry for a few days and finally re-installed the grille onto my Chevelle . Several months and several hundred dollars later , I finally had a grille and eyebrow molding I was satisfied with !
To try and get something back , I listed the other 3 grilles on Ebay and sold them . I listed all 3 with a starting bid of $9.95 and NO reserve since I didn't think they were worth anything close to what I had payed . One sold for $100 , and another sold for $15 . The third one didn't sell so now it looks nice sitting on top oy my tool box , lol .
I'm sorry for such a looooong reply , but if I can spare you half of the grief that I went through , and help you make up your mind about the aftermarket grilles and eyebrow moldings , and even make you a little more cautious about what your looking to buy online ( Ebay ) . Then the looooong reply was well worth it !
If you managed to stay awake through this long reply , and I can be of anymore help or anything , feel free to drop me an email !
Lots of luck !
Joe

I talked with a sales person from OPG, and he said that they were building their own grill kits?
Does this sound correct?
