mc71454 Jan 27th, 05, 3:47 PM Wow, 4 seasons and still fine with my 310 Canfields.
Any factors that could have meant an early demise ???
godsend Jan 27th, 05, 4:07 PM I dont know... 300-350HP nitrous on pump gas mayby? ;)
Intake side had no one left entering intake ports. Burnt away?
Piston rings were trashed. all inner springs were broke.
2 valves bent.
But i ran faster and faster ,) And i got my 8. Thats why i race with bigblock. They always perform... ;)

pdq67 Jan 27th, 05, 7:42 PM godsend,
I gotta say you will get your car to go faster IF you beat on the old boy with a "bigger stick"!!
He, He!!
That's how I got our old Brown "Gilding" to run checking the cattle when I was a kid!! BUT he became hard to catch to ride b/c of it, he, he!!

BillK Jan 27th, 05, 7:42 PM Godsend,
Why don't you get in touch with Canfield ? They would be the ones to get guids from, not CP. If you have one of the old guides out to measure, it is probably not anything unusual. Probably a .502 od silicon bronze guide with a step on top. Measure the old guide and I can get you some part numbers for new ones.
godsend Jan 28th, 05, 1:32 AM I looked over internet for Canfield, but didnt find them.
I asked CP because i bought 3 set of these heads from them.

motown/malibu Jan 28th, 05, 2:41 AM my friend mike virga used canfield heads alot we had simular problem and was able to get guides from trick flow . larry at folsom lake chevrolet told us they were made by trick flow? dont know but they had guides for us .
godsend Jan 28th, 05, 9:19 AM My machinist says they are to thin to withstand the abuse. And i use 11/32 valves to get thicker guides. But they dont take it anyway. He thought we should install thicker guides and then flow optimize them instead.
I think i stay with std stuff... If i can get them to sweden fast enough...
