I am looking for some detailed pictures of a set of originial GM rear lower boxed control arms. I have had a request to reproduce a copy of the originials and I need to see how long the welds are, how far appart they are, etc. Can you help. (they will not be reresented as originials!)
Thanks

The welds are at the horizontal chalk lines.
I have eight more pictures if you want them but this one looked best

Good deal I got the spacing would you be able to take a close up of the actual weld so I see how much build they have?

Well, I’m not much of a photographer but here goes.
Hope this helps.

Those look MUCH different than the welds on the pair of factory boxed lowers I have, which were from a GTO (don't know year, bought them at a swap meet). They have short welds that are slightly less than 1/2" long. The welds look very flat, but are burned in pretty deep. I'll try to get pics up later tonight.

I was told that these came off of a Chevelle but I can't swear to it.

These pictures were perfect. Thanks alot. I would love to see the ones off the GTO. These are like others that I have seen before. I think I will make a page on my web site about these welds. Thanks

Here's a close-up of the welds on mine. Upon closer inspection they appear to have been done with some sort of spot-welder.

BTW, I just remembered that I bought these from a member on this site... it was the sway bar I got from a GTO guy at a swap meet, not the control arms. :clonk:

These are very different from what I have seen before. They do look like they were done by a heavey spot welder. Thanks

I bet they are not all the same.
There probably were different suppliers, different workers etc. etc.

I agree. I have come across many different style rear lower arms

Great info..
Would it be too much trouble to get the hole spacing for the sway bar?
Distance from rear bushing to first hole and distance between holes?
Thanks.

These are the arms I did to look like reproductions of original GM boxed lowers. What do you think?
