Try this handy little calculator. Hopefully it'll get you pointed in the right direction.

Sort of depends on what RPM you might achieve at the finish line.
Personally I'd go with the 29" tire.

I'm going to be driving my car at some cruises and at the drag strip. My motor is suppose dto put out aroun 635 HP @ 6500 RPM and 549 lbs. of torque @ 550 RPM. I'm guessing I'll be shifting around 600 RPM. Thanks for the replies.

I would recommend the 29 inch tire too - I went with 295/50/15's and w/4.10 rear I would have appreciated the extra rpms from the taller tire. I'm looking at 29inch Mickey T's in the future..and a Gear Vendor Overdrive...

I just think it's smarter to err on the too tall a tire side than too short of one.
For one thing, a taller tire gives better traction due to the longer footprint. Second, it's better to run a little low on the rpm side than to be too high.
In my own experience with a rat and an auto, lower gears made hardly any difference. The extra rpm did not add any mph. And only a little ET (less than a tenth) and when the track was marginal, I spun more.
I suspect this all changes when running a stick.
